so.... good morning eveyone! we are having a hard time getting school back this week. the kids are ecstatic.. the parents not so much. the homesc hooler parents are indifferent.. the city lawns are riddled with 4-foot-tall snowmen..

kids here have their last two days about the beach before going back to school this week... they're not so keen! so many people don't like poor old Van M. i suspect he's a difficult person, but i reckon if you hear "Listen to the Lion" through headphones in the middle of the night, you'll love him forever.

and, for those interested, down here your street is "scraped" instead of plowed..there has to be a degree of fear-of-ice involved there. up in the up-part of the country they just get plowed. push comes to shove and snow is removed, rgardless of the term. it took me a while to figure out what scraped meant.

yes, i actually hate van's pop songs, but his long pieces are completely sublime. we never get any snow or ice in this part of the world so we neither scrape nor plow!
