Evening, fellow travelers.

where are we going?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm
Dave born in Vermont:

Dave trifecta.
Avatar 10:02pm
Dave Mandl:

You'll know when we get there.
Avatar 10:03pm
Dave Mandl:

Wow. This happens once every 1,000,000,000 years.
Avatar 10:03pm
Technically also a David but nobody calls me that:

I hate admitting this.

  10:05pm
PMD:

I thought that was some very interesting music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
Cubicle Carl:

Whew. I thought it was my wifi.
  10:05pm
tuner fish:

That first track was dope!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
coelacanth:

a master stroke right there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm
Dave's Not Here, Man!:

This place that we're going, are we going to need any roads?
Avatar 10:06pm
Dave Mandl:

Hey Carl, PMD, tuner, Andrew and Daves, non-Daves, and near-Daves.
Avatar 10:06pm
Ike:

I already traveled. I was in Storm King State Park (not to be confused w/the art thing). Parts were icy. Shoe chains came in handy. I'm sore. So, only out-of-body traveling for the rest of the day, please. Thx.
Avatar 10:07pm
HollyT:

So I watched this new Netflix comedy called "F is for Family". Animated series set in '73. It's really funny. Anyhow, the older son in the family is a junior prog-head, and into a band called "Shire of Frodo," which is obvs. based on King Crimson. The dad refers to it as "That Elephant King Bullshit!" :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
melinda:

hi everyone. I like this Lonnie Holley. Until recently I didn't know he was a musician as well as visual artist.
  10:07pm
Eric Hat:

Hey Dave! Honestly been waiting all week for this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
Andrew Waterloo:

@Cubical, that have fit in with all the weird IT problems I've been having.
Avatar 10:08pm
Dave Mandl:

@Holly: Don't watch that show.
  10:08pm
PMD:

Love Lonnie ! Worth the wait/wipe
Avatar 10:09pm
HollyT:

Too late. I already watched all six episodes.
Avatar 10:09pm
Dave Mandl:

@Eric: Thanks, that's very kind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
coelacanth:

i think i've told this tale before, but i have been approached by strangers nearly my entire life who think i'm someone they know named "dave"...all over the country. (so maybe i'm a dave and my parents didn't know it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm
Cubicle Carl:

@Andrew, i just did a major bandwith upgrade, but still things happen.
Avatar 10:10pm
Dave Mandl:

And hi coelacanth, PMD, Andrew, Eric, melinda, Ike, Carl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm
coelacanth:

hi, again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm
Cubicle Carl:

Hey Dave. Great to be here live. I've been an archive listener for the past 6 months.
  10:13pm
Eric Hat:

Merely the truth.
Avatar 10:14pm
Dave Mandl:

Welcome, Carl. It's much more exciting live! (Though the archives are priceless.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm
Cubicle Carl:

The most frustrating thing about the archives is the inability to comment. Well, you can comment, but no one will hear you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
coelacanth:

the first 5 were excellent- then...i don't know what happened! (with bark, and after)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
coelacanth:

rest in peace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Paul Kantner had a very wry kind-of laid back incisiveness & penetrating humor, & was reflectively philosophical; difficult to sum up & articulate how his particular kewlness was relevant.
  10:32pm
DaveGould:

So all of the Daves are assembled?
Avatar 10:32pm
Dave Mandl:

@Carl: IF you comment on an archived show, the DJ gets an email about it! So someone does see it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
Dave in Vermont:

We're getting there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
coelacanth:

(the "d-section"?)
  10:33pm
JakeGould:

@DaveMandl: And they get added to the whackadoo list, right?
Avatar 10:33pm
Dave Mandl:

@Jake: No!
Avatar 10:33pm
Dave Mandl:

All comments are appreciated, always.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
melinda:

I didn't know one could comment on old playlists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Cubicle Carl:

Good to know, thanks.
  10:37pm
JakeGould:

@melinda: I still comment about the Teapot Dome scandal to this day. Get a few drinks in me and I can ramble on incoherently on Warren G. Harding like nobody’s business.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Cubicle Carl:

If it wasn't for whackadoos, there'd be no listenership.
Avatar 10:38pm
Dave Mandl:

@melinda: Definitely. I'm not sure if you can do it with the iPhone/Android app, but definitely on the web.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
coelacanth:

did Joe Cocker move on as well? (i'm using an old but never used windows vista computer someone gave me and trying to minimize problems by only using it offline & on 3 specific sites that i sort of trust.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
melinda:

haha Jake!
  10:40pm
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Joe Cocker kicked the bucket in 2014. There is a new kind of prank online where someone passes along old news about someone famous dying as new news. And boy do the suckers eat that up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
melinda:

Yeah, these days best to google check any "RIP" claims.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
sucker:

thanks. i knew that, but forgot. someone told me last night that he died yesterday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
melinda:

@Dave Mandl: I always liked Martha, thanks for playing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
melinda:

@sucker: we all lose track, I think.
  10:46pm
JakeGould:

FWIW, I found this reprinted obit for Bela Lugosi in the L.A. Times that is laid out nice and modern and Facebook fetches it all nice. Just saying! ;) www.latimes.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
coelacanth:

Thanks. i guess i did...also i was drinking (drunk?) when i was told, and am still recovering.
- that's my story and i'm sticking to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
Nardo:

Darkstar did the only cover of Temporary Secretary (that I know of anyway).
Avatar 10:46pm
Dave Mandl:

@melinda. Happy to.
Avatar 10:47pm
Dave Mandl:

It's hard to keep track! So many rock deaths all the time, sadly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm
Cubicle Carl:

Bart Starr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm
coelacanth:

holy shit! (...i thought it was pronounced like "sign" -?)

whew. ..rest in peace Signe.
Avatar 11:02pm
Dave Mandl:

@Nardo: Seriously? I don't think I've ever heard that.
Avatar 11:07pm
HollyT:

Ohh, Kenneth Patchen. Have you ever read his novels, Dave?
Avatar 11:10pm
Dave Mandl:

@Holly: No. I know you're a big fan. What do you recommend?
Avatar 11:11pm
HollyT:

I remember hearing that some band--I think the other-San-Francisco-band--stole the character name McGannahan Skjellyfetti from his novel Memoirs of a Shy Pornographer.
Avatar 11:11pm
Dave Mandl:

@Holly: Huh. I didn't know that.
Avatar 11:14pm
HollyT:

Dave: he mostly wrote poetry and made drawings. I think he only wrote two novels--Memoirs, and The Journal of Albion Moonlight. Both are great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
Nardo:

Here's a link to the cover. Enjoying the show. soundcloud.com...
Avatar 11:15pm

@Nardo: Thanks!

Avatar 12:00am

Night, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
PMD:

So they announced on KCBS this morning the death of the first Jefferson Airplane singer. Except they said she left because she had a baby and didn't want to tour.
