  3:06pm modchick65:

@MattWW... Hey Hey La La is a GREAT band name.
  3:06pm JakeGould:

If rock and roll were a record it would be $10 on Discogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Matt ww:

If I were a rock and roll record i'd be in the dollar bin
  3:08pm P-90:

It's Sheila B, bringin' the Boom Boom big time! Hi Sheila!
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Guido from Cologne:

hello Sheila
  3:09pm Joe R.:

NRBQ covered that Teresa Brewer song when I saw them a few months ago and it was AWESOME
  3:09pm modchick65:

I thought this was Kirsty MacColl.
  3:10pm JakeGould:

@Matt ww: You would be easy to flip to the B-side, right? *rimshot*

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

A view looking down on the crane tipping over this morning. twitter.com... First it starts falling over. Then it falls over.
Avatar 3:15pm The Contessa:

Love this. So sad
  3:17pm JakeGould:

@djsheilab: I think you forgot the album title from the Bull Moose Jackson track “Big Ten Inch Record”: “Well Hung Out to Dry.”
  3:18pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: In high school in the 1980s I used to work at 40 Worth Street. Crappy clerk job but it was a good summer job. Good think I don’t work there any more because being a clerk for that long who got crushed by a crane would be one sad epitaph.
  3:20pm mg:

"I lived in my bedroom. All of us did". I so adore this song.
Avatar 3:21pm djsheilab:

This so perfectly + beautifully details our relationship with music.
  3:21pm JakeGould:

“Rush” has little meaning to me nowadays since I exited puberty.
Avatar 3:22pm drewo:

Been listening to some recent Dexy's - sounds good if you like classic 1st LP Dexy's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Uncle Michael:

I lied.
  3:26pm modchick65:

Kings of Convenience... I thought this was This Is Ivy League. Nice.
Avatar 3:27pm Jeff:

I *thought* that sounded Kings of Convenience busy channeling S&G-type harmonies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Greg from ZONE 5:

That's funny—first thing I thought when I heard "records about records" was "McGasko".
  3:34pm P-90:

I just CAN'T belueve that Bleecker Bob's is gone. It's maybe the one single long-standing festure of the Manhattan landscape that is gone, that I CAN'T believe is gone. Every time someone mentions that it's gone, I have this spasm of anger/ denial/grief...
  3:35pm Brendan:

What's happenin' boomboomers?
Avatar 3:36pm djsheilab:

Here is Joe's set from Monday: wfmu.org...
  3:36pm JakeGould:

@P-90: My mind was blown in the 1990s when I discovered the “nice” deli I liked on Park Avenue South used to be Max’s Kansas City.
  3:37pm JakeGould:

Which is to say if you make a list of places in NYC that are no longer, it‘s one sad reflection of how little this city actually cares about it’s modern cultural history.
Avatar 3:37pm βrian:

This tomato-bisque background really calls for a sprig of fresh dill.
Avatar 3:37pm Swan_Gone:

Totally great pop jam I would not have heard otherwise! Thanks!
  3:38pm modchick65:

I liked that Niki & the Dove song. It reminded me of the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Adrian in London:

Ooh, Kim was just on TV on a TOTP 81 rerun
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:39pm listener james from westwood:

Whoa, I thought that was Kim Wilde, but I'd never heard this cut before!
Avatar 3:39pm djsheilab:

@Adrian in London I can't get enough of Kim. So many excellent, under-rated records.
Avatar 3:40pm Swan_Gone:

The laundromat I wash at plays a lot of Kim Wilde... and I ain't mad at it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Stevel:

Always liked Kim Wilde, and rarely even tire of Kids in America.

So, djsheilab, are you a Missing Persons fan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm Adrian in London:

She seems like fun in interviews and whatnot
  3:42pm Brendan:

I wish my laundromat had music. And a bar. That would be ideal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Adrian in London:

Ooh, this Sylvan track is great!
Avatar 3:42pm djsheilab:

@Stevel I don't know much by Missing Persons. Any pointers?
  3:43pm Cliff:

Hello Sheila and everybody, just tuning in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Adrian in London:

@DJSheilaB Was that the original 7 of Sylvan? It's never been sold on Dscogs.
Avatar 3:46pm Baumer!:

Love this Rosey Grier track!
Avatar 3:46pm djsheilab:

Yup @Adrian, that's an original I just played. I found it years ago when I was living in London in 1997.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Stevel:

Dale Bozzio had a Lauper-ish voice and could pop out super high notes that I found just swell. Walking in LA was their hit. Terry Bozzio, her husband, was the drummer, also played drums for Zappa on Sheik Yerbouti and Joe's Garage. Sharp new-wave pop.

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:48pm JtotheK:

cool sarah vaughan track.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember the Missing Persons album Spring Session M.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Stevel:

...my personal favorite, Mental Hopscotch.

Avatar 3:49pm geezerette:

pink champagne was the cause of it all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Scott Williams:

2nding Stevel here, Mental Hopscotch is killer! Big hits were Destination Unknown and Words
  3:49pm P-90:

DJ Joe McG. does an exemplary job, he's a reliable antidote to the Monday morning blues.
  3:50pm Brendan:

Mint Julep Listerine w/ Tartar Sauce Control
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Stevel:

Scott Williams: I'd forgotten how many hits they had.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Yvang:

For sure Dorothee on WFMU will produce very extreme reactions among your french listeners either positive or negative.
  3:58pm modchick65:

The Bezinky track sounds like Abba. You're psyching me out on so many of these today!

  4:05pm Listening Out There:

I think Mohammed Ali made a record.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:06pm JtotheK:

@djsheilab: I've been trying to figure out if any female athletes made records, and have come up short. The best bet would have been Olympics athletes, such as Nadia Comaneci or Flo-Jo. But no dice.

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Gaylord Fields:

@djsheilab: The closest I have is a 45 that Jean Terrell recorded as a duet with her heavyweight boxing champ brother Ernie: "Grandpa's House," on Calla.
Avatar 4:30pm djsheilab:

Thanks to all of you for the recommendations-Missing Persons, Mohammed Ali, etc!

Avatar 5:13pm statoj:

Sheilab, got here just in time to hear your excellent comments on sexism in the world. My take is as follows: there is a Finite amount of psychic space for the Human Attitude. By putting the Sheilab Attitude out there, you have reduced the available space for Asshole-ism to survive. Well done and bless you. And nice Song of the Week too!

@Sheila: Steve Harley was Cockney Rebel's genius leader. If you heard the song, you'd recognize it (especially the "ooh-la-las"). debuted at #1, as did Parson's next effort, Pilot's "Magic".
