re: "Never Before"
This track was titled "Never Before" because at the time when it was discovered ('80s) there were no tape notes, but some track sheets were later discovered and it was re-titled with the correct title "The Day Walk," right? Do I have my facts straight?

@Mike Sin: I believe so! I have to go back and check my Turn Turn Turn CD liner notes which I think address that.

As per The Gosdin Brothers album, Sundazed put together the best presentation of the album EVER. That Echoes compilation is a mess.

Man, already I know I'm gonna love this show... I might take a long smoke break from work... even though I don't smoke.

Hey V! Oh yes dig that brass mellotron sound!

re: GC w/Gosdin Bros
In the early '90s, a quick cash-in CD was released of this album (can't remember the label... will have to check when at home), but it "mistakenly" contained the mono mix. That's one of the instances in the '60s in which the mono mix is a bit more cohesive.

@Mike: I remember when I first Echoes I was sort of shocked how messy it was. No fade-outs, weird mixes. Then I heard the mono mix and it sounded so great.

Mike Sin:

re: "Echoes"
IIRC, a lot of tracks were remixed for the comp so there aren't many original -- mono or stereo -- mixes on there. But that comp introduced me to the track "The French Girl," so it was all worth it.

@Mike: Did you ever pick up that Early LA comp?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
Mike Sin:

re: "Early LA"
Isn't that just aa '70s reissue of the Gosdin Bros LP minus one track?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm

@Mike: Recut vocals by Gene on most tracks interestingly enough

@Mike: It created the magic! They should've kept doing it!

Brian in UK:

See the Sky About to Rain from Byrds brings out the best in Gene's vocals. He lost me on his solo works.

PS Joe just played The Above on his show. Great POP.
