Bill!! Great to hear ya on the waves. Very warm greets from India. I heard you were on, so I've braved my way past endless rickshaw wallahs, street vendors, roadside barbers, ramshackle kitchens, cows, goats and mangey dogs, holy men, monks and assorted humanity to grab a coffee, WiFi and some Zero Hour. What a wonderful world.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am

i didn't hear KJ 'till a few years later. ..but that late '70s period was just one revelation after another.
- when "entertainment" came i was turned onto it when a friend from school came over with it, and "setting sons", and they both blew me away! (even though i was already heavily into several "punk" bands)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28am

one of the perks of being in a remote colonial outpost is that even when bands became big in the UK or US, they would still come over here and play pubs and bars; Clash, Fall, Violent Femmes, even REM at the Trade Union Club...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am
coelacanth:

that's Lucky, ausmanx!
i've often thought that some people/groups would do that in my town if they only knew that they'd get a Great reception without getting mauled.

@ausmanx: Sounds very cool! Not 100% my scene but in the 1980s there was this metal record store in Brooklyn that would have in-store appearances with Iron Maiden and such and utterly nobody would show up except some deep Brooklyn metalheads. They would play to crowds at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan but then decompress by heading out to the boonies in Brooklyn.

Hello KP (belatedly)

GO4 and those of a similar ilk were called Post-Punk for some reason. Everything must have a category/genre.

The first LP that I paid for with my paper round money was Cat Stevens 'Matthew & Son'. Great pop. March '67. I then mistakenly bought and rapidly sold Sgt Pepper.
