Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from February 16, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

@mick: NDR2. I loved his selection of TOP 100 new entries in his show "Top Fofftein". But lets admit the Tarzan song was truly awful and back then even a dissapointment for a subteenager.
  4:03pm
mick:

@ c : ach....wenn man es 35 jahre lang nicht gehört hat, fetzt es schon...haha. vor allem, dass es so krass nach ían dury klang fand ich eben ganz interessant.
Avatar 4:13pm

@Mick-sorry, I try to be relentlessly positive on the boards. Won't happen again, will keep my own counsel on stuff I do not like. It could hurt musicians that look up comments. Forgot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
coelacanth:

Cecile - fantastically horrible! not as bad as "disco duck" from the us in 1976. even as a child it was painfully obvious how awful that was!
Avatar 4:16pm
Brian Turner:

Rick Dees followed it up with Dis-Gorilla -- its on You Tube from a TV Variety show

(but then commercial radio was almost uniformly dismal at that moment.)

Neil, i'd be surprised if the creator of that haven't since come to realise how awful it is. (f he/they didn't know it at the time.)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm

("creators haven't" or "creator hasn't"..either one!)
Avatar 4:23pm
Wild Neil:

@Cecile-one of the DJs was advocating for that position so I wish to support the wishes of all DJs within reason. But to live in this modern world, I agree , you need a thick skin anyway...so much messed up today in the world...
Avatar 4:24pm

I'm going to say something sucks to me if it sucks to me. I'm just not going to make it personal. I expect people to be honest about my art, so it cuts both ways.

One last story about Willem: Together with Conny Planck, he founded the "Kraut Musikverlag", pioneering (maybe) the Krautrock movement. See www.sr.de... (in german).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
coelacanth:

also a consideration with respect to that dj's wishes (which was a whole different situation involving a currently active band) is that "disco duck" and anything of the sort was made solely to capitalize on the disco fad. it was a joke at the time, even to people who bought it.

Parts of this sound texturally like when Jimi burned his guitar.
  4:58pm
Mark R.:

That reminded me of one time a few months ago when you (I'm pretty sure it was you) were playing something like this and I thought I'd be cute and get on the comments board and say I thought my neighbor upstairs was vacuuming, and you said, no, I cut the turntable in half with a buzz saw. Touche, sir.

I was using a Yankees Pinella card from the 70s with a slightly older Dio so it would fit in the alternate timeline.

Pi, when I get his eyes right, I will send you a .jpeg.
