I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Welcome back, Mayuko, and happy birthday, Edward Gorey!
Avatar 5:08pm Mayuko:

Thank you for tuning in, james, glad to be back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I guess the background color and what day it is today is a metaphor (or a riddle, maybe?) for the song from New Order.
Avatar 5:13pm Mayuko:

haha, are you disregarding the message right away, Ken!? Thanks for tuning in! It's literally from my favorite Edward Gorey book L'Heure Bleue = The Blue Hour.
Avatar 5:13pm Mayuko:

I think it's appropriate since the blue hour happens during my show.
Avatar 5:37pm glenn:

hey, it's cat day in japan. happy cat day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm listener james from westwood:

The album mentions Blue Velvet, but this would work for Blade Runner, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm listener james from westwood:

Oh hell yes, "Bela"!
Avatar 5:44pm Mayuko:

ah that's true, it's neow (it seems Japanese cats don't meow) x3 day. I'm prepared for that too, glenn! www.instagram.com...
Avatar 5:45pm Mayuko:

(Forgot to mention that the link above is for Edward Gorey's cat's high school graduation picture)
Avatar 5:48pm Mayuko:

@james sorta connected via Dracula since Gorey did set design.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm listener james from westwood:

Holy crow, are you reading from my iPod?! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Rich in Washington:

Mayuko, your shows are such a great antidote to Mondays...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Carmichael:

Heya Mayuko and blue people.
  6:12pm Dave B.:

Good evening Mayuko and Vertigonians

Waffle hung on Edward Gorey's house: www.instagram.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm listener james from westwood:

Dammit, now I want waffles. Maybe not that one. But definitely fresh ones.
Avatar 6:24pm Mayuko:

Hello & thank you for tuning in, Rich, Carmichael, Dave B!!
Avatar 6:29pm Mayuko:

that waffle looked pretty good for having been preserved for 15 years, though.
  6:30pm Dave B.:

I hope you're already thinking up something good for next week. It only happens every four years
Avatar 6:36pm Mayuko:

oh! I totally forgot about that leap year thing. Mondays been falling onto some special dates these days!
Avatar 6:43pm Mayuko:

Coming up after me on WFMU Give The Drummer Radio is Global Grease with Kim Sorice! Here's the playlist & comment board for her tonight show: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's not officially a blue moon out there, but it sure is bright up in the eastern sky.
Avatar 6:49pm Mayuko:

The moon last night was already very bright and quite rounded, I can't see it from the window here but I'll see after my show!
  6:50pm Dave B.:

Total full moon today. Next blue moon in May
Avatar 6:52pm Mayuko:

So the end of May? The second full moon in a month is blue moon, right?
Avatar 6:54pm Mayuko:

This is the last song for my show today - thank you all for listening!
  6:55pm Dave B.:

Yep 2 in 1 month! May 21 this time
  6:55pm Dave B.:

Have a great night everyone...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm listener james from westwood:

Many thanks, Mayuko!
Avatar 7:00pm Jeff:

Cool show as usual; Thanks, Mayuko!
  9:12pm zm:

I was a fan of both Michael Mantler and Terie Rypdal but didn't know their collaboration "The Hapless Child And Other Inscrutable Stories". Thanks for introducing it at you show. Later found the CD was $$$!
Avatar 10:20pm Mayuko:

Yah somehow that CD is very expensive, but its mp3s are reasonable price on Amazon and LPs are ok prices on Discogs for some reason (if you don't think about the shipping... which can be crazy depending on where you are...) Glad you enjoyed the show, thank you so much for listening!
Avatar 2:50pm fred:

Great show again, Mayuko. Listening to Tanji Modern Grup reminded of NOLA music in some way. Which is a good thing. Another weird thing is that I somehow missed Bauhaus back in the day. To me it was just the intro to the Dirtbombs's cover of Kung Fu. I only got it like a couple years ago.
And the comments made this show even more frightfully accurate: I had an intense dream that featured a New Order soundtrack last night
Avatar 10:52pm Mayuko:

What's NOLA music? I'm curious! Dream with New Order doesn't sound too nightmarish to me although it totally could be intense, I guess!
Avatar 2:22pm fred:

NOLA is just shorthand for New Orleans, Louisiana.
That dream was a nightmare having me trying to climb out of a rain-forest sinkhole only to be shredded by a giant eagle, all to the tune of New Order's Perfect Kiss
