Do it!
  12:14pm mjgoins:

Yes, DO IT classic jam.
  12:15pm JC Mike:

How many times have I heard Rollins' version and loved it? This is the first time I ever heard the original - thank you
Avatar 12:15pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Great song but I prefer Henry Rollins' version
Avatar 12:16pm Cecile:

I love me some Pink Fairies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Going out to Pseu Braun?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm chris:

i was thinking the opposite, dr r. ha! vive la différence!
Avatar 12:19pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Avatar 12:20pm Cecile:

This is a great palate cleanser from Hamilton, which I am now obsessed with.
Avatar 12:21pm Cecile:

I also thought the Lemmy tribute on the Grammys was terrible. They should have just gotten Metallica, Anthrax or even a random punk band to do Ace of Spades. And I love Alice and Duff, but meh.
Avatar 12:22pm Chris from DC:

They should have gotten Speedwolf to do their cover of Iron Fist.
Avatar 12:23pm Cecile:

anyone would do except those guys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm chris:

hardest rockin' eas test east of the mississip'
Avatar 12:26pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:26pm Cecile:

you should have the Rev Turnip on.

Avatar 12:30pm Cecile:

or you can always get Handsome Dick back on. Or John Baizley? I know where he's working right now...
Avatar 12:46pm Cecile:

Diane, could you slide something Dio-esque or Dio-related on?
  12:47pm slowbear:

Avatar 12:51pm Cecile:

TPM! Where is Pi?
  12:56pm J:

You have the tastiest taste, which Voivod show did you wind up going to?
Avatar 12:59pm Cecile:

I think the guy who wrote Hamilton also listened to power metal. there's the power metal like goofiness to its history.
Avatar 12:59pm Cecile:

Or at least maybe he heard the Upper Crust once.
  1:01pm Polyus:

Has anyone seen The Witch yet? Opens here tonight, out in the burbs. It has the endorsement of The Satanic Temple, so there's that.
Avatar 1:02pm Cecile:

no, but I want to see that ridiculous Witchhunter movie with Vin Diesel.
Avatar 1:05pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:05pm Diane Kamikaze:

@J : I went to Lancaster PA... only show that fit into my schedule. 3 hours each way and well worth it! VOIVOD!!
Avatar 1:07pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Just watched Vin Diesel again in XXX yesterday. There is supposed to be a sequel with him coming up
Avatar 1:09pm Chris from DC:

Voivod were so fantastic down here. And you really called it on Vektor, great band.
Avatar 1:10pm Cecile:

Yes. It's supposed to be XXX3D.
I can't wait.
Avatar 1:10pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

EGAD, why do the curry food-trucks not use twitter? Had to wander aimlessly... finally settled for curbstone & pigeon bits. Washed down with bitter tears.

Avatar 1:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

CP @ 1:37 -- indeed. And it was about bloody time.
[never caught 'em in the before-times]
  1:46pm J:

Wish I couldve gone to one more show, caught them at Gramercy and they were awesome, caught Snake outside smoking a cig before the show too

Avatar 2:03pm kirk from beer city usa:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If a marching band somewhere would like to become famous, they should learn a Voivod song and put the video up on Youtube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm chris:

pot smoker?
Avatar 2:16pm Cecile:

yeah, the lyrics are kind of a little jam bandy for me.
Avatar 2:20pm Chris from DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Rich in Washington:

Crime was the only real punk band.
Avatar 2:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

In the name of all that's holy, no more meetings! Freakin' Kamikaze is on...
Avatar 2:27pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Yeah, Helmet!!
Avatar 2:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

whoa. time-warp. early helmet..
Avatar 2:28pm greenlight:

yeah, tunned in straight into the helmet! hi everyone!
Avatar 2:29pm Cecile:

the Peter Mengede years.
Avatar 2:33pm Cecile:

I liked In The Meantime, but after that, not so much.
Avatar 2:34pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Now I need to run home & dig up the DOPE GUNS & FARKIN' videos. Also, related note: Dr.Sphincter for president!
Avatar 2:34pm northguineahills:

I don't think I've ever heard anything after In The Meantime.
Avatar 2:35pm Cecile:

Betty was the last one that sold anything. It was very diffuse and mild, to say the least.
Avatar 2:37pm Cecile:

The guy who plays Dr. Sphincter is a genius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm chris:

damn, i stepped away and missed helmet... grrr...
Avatar 2:38pm Diane Kamikaze:

Yes, Meantime I don't think holds up very well. Strap It On is still one hell of a record. Meh for sure on the rest of the Helmet discography
Avatar 2:41pm greenlight:

yeah, betty would be my last one.
Avatar 2:41pm Cecile:

I still like about four songs on Meantime. Unsung is still a great track. Betty is not good.
Avatar 2:41pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Seriously, Cecile (re: dr.sphincter) -

I remember hearing Betty and wondering what the hell happened...

The Dope/Guns video compilations also had that King Snake Roost track, which I've never found on a proper release, but is the total favorite Roost tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm chris:

the eponymous in the meantime track is still something that i hear in my head over and over after 20 years, it seems
Avatar 2:43pm Cecile:

Rev, Peter Mengede left the band. Simple as that.
Avatar 2:44pm Luna:

missing yet another show, but hi everyone
Avatar 2:44pm Cecile:

hi luna!!!
Avatar 2:45pm Cecile:

wow it's Echo and the bunny swans.
Avatar 2:47pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Did Ian sing for the Swans?
Avatar 2:48pm Cecile:

no. it just sounded a little like him on that track.
Avatar 2:49pm Diane Kamikaze:

Cecile- Did you ever listen to Handsome, the band Peter was in after Helmet?
Avatar 2:49pm Cecile:

I didn't because I pretty much hated all music that wasn't GBV, jazz or hip-hop by then.
Avatar 2:50pm Cecile:

Were they any good? Loved his guitar sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm chris:

chapel hill represent! horseback is deeply groovy
Avatar 2:51pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Also: Belated cheers for spinning the Motörhead tune from Bad Magic. For a last statement, it kicks like mad.
  2:52pm Rory:

This one of those shows when Diane is on fire and you have to stand back in awe and realize how lucky you are that you're one of the lucky ones that know about and listen to WFMU.
Avatar 2:53pm Diane Kamikaze:

I liked them at first, but all in all, no they weren't very good. Alternative hardcore with hooks, sorta. Vocals killed it for me, from what I remember.
Avatar 2:54pm Cecile:

ew. sounds like I can pass on revisiting them.

this last song was a JAM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I guess you didn't make 70,000 Tons of Metal this year, right Diane?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm chris:

thanks, Diane! livestock slaughtered!
Avatar 2:56pm Doctor Rembrandt:

This is always such an awesome show!!
  2:56pm Polyus:

Only Death Is Real!
Avatar 2:57pm Diane Kamikaze:

KFHP: Nope. They have an annoying method of booking about 25% of the bands, waiting til it sells out and then booking the rest. I went on the first 2 and wouldn't rule out going again, but the first 25% on the ones I didn't attend were not compelling enough. A couple did of course, bite me in the ass (adding Carcass last year, sigh!), but this sight unseen thing is a little lame considering it's a full blown vacation (cost wise)
Avatar 2:59pm V Priceless:

thanx DK - cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Diane - Yeah, that sounds kind of cheesy.
