Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from February 23, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

"Back in the day, 20 years ago now, I found an osteopath in Euclid, Ohio, who would prescribe for any pretty girl who walked through the door 30 clean American football-shaped amphetamine tablets each month for a nominal fee. It wasn't long before I had my wife, my sister, my niece and the lady who lived across the road going regularly. On the street, you could get $10 for three tablets and I was making money hand over fist. Such was largely how the financing for the two Cleveland Confidential records came together. That, and a few common robberies." - from the liner notes I found online. It pays to have attractive relatives!

david from radio active ks, it would be a bit hypocritical of me to have any ethical qualms regarding the (re)selling and/or usage of drugs in the music industry. (Just ask some of the other commenters about my live-commented shroom trip from this past Friday)

Way digging this Sonny Sharrock - but its a total bummer that WKCR hasn't streamed since 1/1/16 for legal reasons they are sorting out. They are a vital source for jazz/classical and especially avant variants of each, in case the FMUniverse is not familiar

Aha, I found some Russian MP3 sharing site that has the Lab Rats cover. After buying the $25 used CD on Amazon (fairly reasonable price, everything else was $40 on up, and it's going for at least $80 on Discogs if I want it on vinyl, jeeeeez)

Ok, I took a re-listen, and Lab Rats is definitely going on my Aphrodite mix CD. I can keep Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" for the Persephone CD.

Yes, it would, Cliff.
Today's phrase: Malá dívka je nadšená.
The little girl is excited.
  5:52pm
Cliff:

Cool...can you do a word-by-word gloss of that phrase? (i.e. what does "mala" mean, "divka", etc.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm

mala (small) divka (girl)
nadšený (adj, excited)

Neato. Czech will be fun to learn, I'll have to unlearn my French/Spanish/Italian first, because I see a word like "mala" and think "bad", not "small"
