Following on the topic of internet cats, Lord Buckley Bean now has a competitor, though of a very different ilk:

I thought Valerie and her Week of Wonders was a silent film. Or, when I saw my friends w/ some Finnish bands (including Kuupuu) do a live soundtrack for it, they just kept the subtitles on and turned off the sound.

@northguineahills not originally silent but the film can function just fine with out the sound. Pretty intense visuals throughout

Happy Friday- this show totally rules <3

"Valerie and Her Week of Wonders" - just looked this up on IMDb, now I must see it. Thanks northguineahills & Swan_Gone!

Oh, I LOVE Stina's music so much.
Avatar 3:13pm djsheilab:

Hey gang! Having to do a bit of mixing with this set. My attempt to create a haunting, serene atmosphere. And btw, Valerie & Her Week of Wonders is magic! Highly recommended.
  3:14pm modchick65:

I wish there was a movie theatre that just showed these films. And then in another room there was a bar where @djsheilab was spinning. And I lived upstairs.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Julie:

@Cliff-check out Stanley Kibrick's still photos, they are amazing, just google them, he was a photographer for Look magazine or soemtihng...a great director (or at least Director of Photography) must be a great still photographer and master of composition.

isn't this the same piece of classical music Serge ripped off for Jane B?
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Guido from Cologne:

Thought the Clover's version was the original.
But that was Tony Bennett accompanied by Percy Faith in 1951.
  3:34pm Cliff:

I gotta make a visit to WFMU before I leave the country this summer (and after you've all recovered from the marathon)

@Cliff-in Poland if they do not understand something they say "Czescki Film" which means "Czech Film" probably because there was some Czec film back in the day that made no sense to them.
Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Gaylord Fields:

@djsheilab: This program is serving as the soundtrack to my current viewing of one of my favorite films, Truffaut's Day for Night, with the sound off.
  3:39pm modchick65:

The beginning of "The Wizard" sounds like the intro to one of the Creatures songs on that album where they're standing with the flowers.
  3:39pm Cliff:

Oh ok, fine, "The Wizard"'s alright too I guess.

Avatar S.B. Boomer: Marathon 2022 Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Ozzy? Don't know him ...
  4:07pm modchick65:

In 1982, there was this girl in my 5th grade class who was IN LOVE with Ozzy. She had this Bat Out of Hell 3/4 baseball tee, everything. I still remember, at some point in 1982, he was hospitalized for a stomach infection (although thinking about it now, I wonder if that's what it was...) she was like, "If Ozzy dies, I'll CRY." To this day, that's what Ozzy reminds me of.

The Innocence Mission are Christians and have an album or so of overtly Christian music, which I've vaguely listened to. Their regular, non-Christia, records are beautiful.

Madonna! One I haven't heard before! Cool.
  5:47pm ledzeppelinsucks:

I went to an Ozzy/Motleys Crew concert in 1984. It was a trainload of BS. The singer for Motleys Crew, I forget what her name is, was dressed in that torn sweatshirt and leotards get up like the chick on Flashdance. She kept screaming.

Hey guys I was listening to 91.1 and I heard Chocolat - Kagami No Yoru and I was wondering if there is a download or somewhere that streams it because I cant find anything.
  5:51pm ledzeppelinsucks:

The singer of Motleys Crew kept screaming 'IS SEATTLE GETTING PUSSY TONIGHT' 'YEEEAAHHHOOW!' 'IS SEATTLE GETTING PUSSY TONIGHT?' 'YEAHHH" People were yelling at her to shut up. She kept screaming that stupid crap and with her trailer park bleached hair do and the Flashdance get up, she looked really stupid. People started throwing shoes and bottles and shit at her. She had a huffy and left the stage. Seattle Center Coliseum June 1984

  5:55pm Cliff:

So did anyone in Seattle end up giving her cunnilingus that night? I really need to know.
  5:55pm ledzeppelinsucks:

People were yelling, 'No, we aren't getting any pussy tonight' The next day at school even the stoners were making fun of her.
  5:56pm Jeffy Jazz:

The youngsters who went on to form Green River were at that Crüe show, and they too had had enough. And thus the so-called "grunge" movement was born.
  5:56pm Cliff:

So the entire city of Seattle refrained from all vagina that night. Good for them
