Just an FYI that I made a computer pledge but didn't get the confirmation e-mail I normally get when I pledge. But it went through on my credit card. Hmmm....anyone else having an issue?
  7:23pm
Syd:

Hiya Faye.
  7:24pm
JakeGould:

@djsheilab: Check your SPAM filter or maybe just wait for the Inner-tubes to catch up? I pay pledge via bill me later and do a PayPal for the whole amount to avoid stuff like that.
Avatar 7:25pm
djsheilab:

Thanks @JakeGould! Hopefully it went through.

Wow this new Belle & Sebastian is really good.

GOT IT SHEILA, THANKS!

HEY EVERYBODY, BE LIKE SHEILA!
Avatar 7:44pm

man, except for the entirely-comprehensible lyrics, that belle & sebastian tune could easily be a new pornographers song. that's pretty much the you-got-your-chocolate-in-my-peanut-butter of pop music right there.
Avatar 7:51pm
dk:

calling your band 'jawbreaker reunion' seems like a great way to troll nostalgic grownup emo kids.
  7:52pm
JakeGould:

@dk: That band name really confuses me. It’s like naming your band “Led Zeppelin T-Shirt”
Avatar 7:54pm

tomasz: that'd be awesome. your leadoff release could be a 4-track EP called 'The First Quartet'
  8:05pm
tomasz.:

ha! definitely. the Miles Davis estate will cease-and-desist our asses off, of course, but for a concept that solid i think it will be worth it

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm

(...for some reason i'm hearing "Seamus & Bill Gillespers" in my head!)
  9:23pm
Listener Robert:

You just touched on one of the things that bothers me about people in entertainment -- not just at WFMU, but everywhere. Maybe it's inseparable from the amount of ego that you have to have to go before an audience in any form, but it bothers me that EVEN PEOPLE WHO PUT UP A YOUTUBE are touchy about criticism. I was so disappointed to find out that a friend of mine I knew since he was just entering his teens, and who became a big TV writer-producer, is that way.

Remember, folks, no matter what criticism we may have of you that WE are the ones listening to YOU. It's not like we stand to even knock you down to "our level", because we acknowledge that we really like what you do, so don't get offended by critiques like "NPR-ish". OK, so you're not perfect.
  9:25pm
JakeGould:

@coelcanth: Simple: “Luna Bar”
Avatar 9:27pm
Shaun(ununun):

Jim/Will-Reid & Bobby Gillespie makes up the J&MC. Silly, really.

The Martha(diy?) & Mothers of Invention collaboration presumably went by be. So we're even?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm
Andrew Waterloo:

I find people in general are not very receptive to criticism. Particularly when it wasn't asked for and serves no function.
Avatar 9:29pm
Shaun(ununun):

me*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
coelacanth:

ohhh, i didn't know that! Thanks. i didn't stop thinking about it!
(...Martha and the Muffins did a song called "cheeses and gum")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
Andrew Waterloo:

The first rule of offering advice is not to offer advice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
coelacanth:

exactly, Andrew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm
melinda:

@Andrew: yes. Unless people explicitly ask for criticism it's safe to assume it might not be appreciated.
Avatar 9:34pm
Danne D:

I think it's critical to support Faye and WFMU :)
Avatar 9:34pm
listener mark:

@Listener Robert It's a little bit of "sour grapes." Anyone at WFMU would sell their soul to be a National Public Radio God. Think Terry Gross, Mara Liasson, Scott Horsley, Scott Simon, Ira Glass, etc,....
Avatar 9:35pm
Shaun(ununun):

no problem. I certainly wasn't trying to stump anyone. :<

my brain tried conflating, (reducing & substituting), 'Dust, Juice, Bones & Hair' (Martha) with the Mary Jane/Mothers. Way off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm
coelacanth:

l. mark, that's sorta funny in it's absurdity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
melinda:

I like it when DJs accidentally reverb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm
coelacanth:

that's the best kind of dj reverb!
  9:42pm
JakeGould:

Add my voice the the reverb front.
Avatar 9:42pm
Shaun(ununun):

concurrrr
  9:46pm
Listener Robert:

You think so, Mark? Maybe Irene Trudel would be the one with the most comprehensive perspective on that. I could see it if they wanted to give up their day jobs.
  9:48pm
Listener Robert:

You're right, Andrew, it's not just in entertainment. It's one of the things I think is a serious impediment to progress in gen'l.
  9:49pm
JakeGould:

I’m looking forward to the new WFMU spring show: “The Problem with These New Kids”
  9:49pm
Listener Robert:

It's true in science for sure, even though science has institutionalized the practice of criticizing each other's work mercilessly.
  9:51pm
t:

first song was SO much better
  9:51pm
Listener Robert:

The main reason I don't think it's sour grapes is that so many of us are so sick of NPR as listeners that it's hard to conceive or it as an aspir'n.
  9:54pm
JakeGould:

Another great new spring show will be “Get Off My Lawn!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm
coelacanth:

another reason is that fmu & npr have absolutely nothing to do with each-other.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm
