To be honest, around 2013 I had an extended dry period and I decided to just stop drinking. It was pretty amazing. After about a year and a half I started to casually drink again and I could control myself again instead of binging like I did in the past. So there is a benefit to abstinence.

@Duane: I hear you. I just quit a gig where I went back on the caffeine train… And now I’m getting off of that again… It’s just so painful. Those headaches for the first few days, the cold sweats… And then a nap or two and I’m back to normal. But it hurts.
