Hello from San Francisco
  12:11pm Dean:

Horn rock! Or is it a synthesizer? Are the dBs living a lie?
Avatar 12:12pm Cecile:

it's horns. It might even be the horns from the Rumour. They were in England when they recorded that.
  12:13pm Dean:

So, Cecile, rumor has it it's guys from The Rumour?
  12:14pm fred:

pictures of the matchstick men!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Rich in Washington:

I kinda lost track of Die Kreuzen after their debut LP but they sound great here!
There was a pretty amusing interview with them many, many years ago where they detailed getting courted by a major label and how and why they (the band) turned them down.
Avatar 12:26pm Cecile:

The second album is great. I didn't feel the later ones, but maybe I should revisit tham.
Avatar 12:27pm Cecile:

Diane, that second album helped inspire Voivod to broaden their sound, didn't it?
  12:29pm Casement 5ound:

I do lust me some Lustmord!
  12:32pm ledzeppelinsucks:

Killing Joke many great songs
  12:38pm Dean:

Boogieland is right!!!!!!!!!!!! This feels so right.
Avatar 1:04pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

Got other canons to fire Kamikaze greatness was heard though! Enjoyable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm coe:

would have sworn this was recorded in 1966. Great sound.
  1:07pm Dean:

One of the best shows ever, Johansen c. 1979 with a couple Dolls, Cuckoo's Nest in OC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm coe:

didn't even know this was a thing until now killingjokemovie.com
  1:14pm Dean:

Whaddya know? There is a band called Potty Mouth, as well there should be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm coe:

It's a show about a fictional record executive who coincidently happens to be present for many real things that happened in the music world in the 70's. Example he was in Mercer Arts Center when it collapsed and was backstage in MSG when Peter Grant was giving the guy the run down about bootlegs as it appears in Song Remains the Same. They also like to alter history a bit as the NY Dolls in their version were playing the Mercer when it collapsed.
Avatar 1:20pm Diane Kamikaze:

So @coe, what do you think of the show?
Avatar 1:22pm V Priceless:

hey Diane! Nice job w/the Hoof & Mouth, btw...RAWK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm coe:

It is so bad it is almost impossible to look away :). Honestly had they kept it all fictional and didn't try to do the wink wink nudge references it would have been ok/passable. But with everything else it's just a total car wreck.
  1:25pm Dean:

Initial reading of this band's name at a glance: Ruins of Breakfast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Fox (Rā-chul):

So it's kind of like that HBO show Rome, only about the LES?
  1:27pm Polyus:

I made it through one episode of Vinyl. Felt like that was enough.
Avatar 1:28pm Cheri Pi:

I didn't know about that thing either coe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm coe:

@Fox kind of. I've never seen Rome but I will not deny I am a fan of meta fiction so I'm ok with re writing "history" for the sake of entertainment. I think the issue is here is they are using things that there is real archival footage of and the fact that some of us were in some cases present for some of these things. So when you see them "rewriting" something like that it snaps you right out of your suspension of disbelief.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm coe:

@Cheri now we just have to find out how to see it. The last screening date site gives was back in Oct. So bummed they canceled their tour.
Avatar 1:32pm V Priceless:

Re: Vinyl - the kid playing Alice Cooper did a decent job talking like him - they also 'recreate' the original band rehearsing, as they do with a comic book-like Spiders from Mars - which is certainly amusing, if nothing else.
Avatar 1:35pm Cecile:

I think Walk Hard is the best rockumetary ever
  1:43pm Alex:

Hey all, anyone want a free ticket to see the FMU documentary at IFC tonight? My +1 fell through
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm chris:

hello, Diane... that was a killer set. hi, everybody.
  1:45pm Dean:

Yeah, right. And Dave Mustaine will be appearing shortly on this show! (Per Chris M.)
Avatar 1:47pm Cecile:

where are these guys from? they remind me of mid 80s Boston stuff
Avatar 1:50pm Cecile:

if Dave is running for president, will my expanded Megadeth Behind the Music DVD be worth anything?

Avatar 2:07pm Diane Kamikaze:

Fistful Of Metal is the ONLY Anthrax record! I DID love their version of Joe Jackson's Got The Time much later, but all the credit there goes to Joe Jackson...
  2:08pm Polyus:

Say Bloodrock into a mirror six times and Clay Pigeon appears.
Avatar 2:09pm V Priceless:

Andy 'Thunderclap' Newman, RIP, if anyone's keeping count...
Avatar 2:09pm Cheri Pi:

I've never been sure whether or not I "get" Joe Jackson... still trying to figure it out.
Avatar 2:10pm Cecile:

He's really more of a jazz artist. But his foray into rock, at leaat the early parts were interesting
Avatar 2:10pm V Priceless:

love JJ..never miss him when he's local. Always fresh, in more ways than one.
Avatar 2:11pm Cheri Pi:

Stepping Out has a great beat
Avatar 2:13pm V Priceless:

he does a great cover of 'Scary Monsters'
Avatar 2:18pm V Priceless:

Yay KD!
Avatar 2:18pm Cecile:

I saw him during the Stepping Out tour, and while I liked the album, I wanted more old stuff. So I don't think I appreciated it as much as I might now. But his band was great.

Avatar 2:31pm Cecile:

this drummer is feeling it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Yeah man, this drummer is totally going for it.
Avatar 2:35pm Cheri Pi:

you can't even fake this with baseball cards in a bike wheel
Avatar 2:37pm Cecile:

I am going to stich that into a sampler, Pi.
Avatar 2:41pm Cheri Pi:

Lord knows I've tried, an imaginary speed-doom band makes a great tax shelter
Avatar 2:42pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 2:42pm Cecile:

I actually read the Bosse-De-Nage lyrics online. they're dark, even for black metal.
