Merle Haggard is fondly remembered in this part of the country.

Thanks, all.

Cowboy Jack - worst producer ever. Ruined those Townes records.

This is a great tribute. I hate to sound like a weenie, though. Is there something amiss in the HTML on the playlist grid? The whole grid is a link to the Paris Review article.

Oh, weird! I'll try and fix it later.

Oh-em-gee... THAT KRIS KRISTOFFERSON song!
There's something in my eye... :-/

@BKoM To be honest, I don't mind it. And it's better than the '80s production crimes on some of the other versions...

Both Kinds of Music:

No such thing as good 80s production anyway you cut it.

I've never heard a Merle Haggard song before your show. Wow! I get it. Gonna have to pick up some of his records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
Becky:

Yeah @brycepunk there's about 100 of 'em, and they're all pretty great!!

I often say my 1st Live concert was The Ramones. In another way - it was really a Country band @ the county fair - playing 'Silver Wings' - & haunting me forever...

Late to the 2nd half of the wake, but appreciate what I’m hearing right now. Also, read the Lorin Stein piece in the Paris Review… Timing is everything in life and it’s never too soon to be too late!

Sad/funny/infuriating that a working man in 2016 can relate to a song about the working man sung in 1977 and realize not much has changed.

@JakeG: Two things about that: 1.) LBJ knew signing the civil rights act in 1964 would cost Liberals the South for who knows how long. Before hat Country was closer to Folk & the Left... 2.) Reagan began 'trickle down' economics - before that the working class's wages went up profits - but not since.

before *that...*with profits
