I don't remember which zine it was (the Wire?), but in '98 I heard that WFMU had a webstream. So, at work, late at night when I was the only one at the office (I was still in college), I tuned it. It was tinny, I believe it was Gateway to Joy. Two years later I moved from FL to here.

A month ago, I saw a Surface Noise DJ set. Not as a reference to your show, but many of the records were surface noise or sounded like it. Knowing both DJs, I wouldn't be surprised if they had recorded actual surface noise to a brand new record. I loved it

@Joe: One once did a show with a blank vinyl and a blade mounted on the stylus to that the tracks were cut as he played. I think he's also the one who recorded 4 turntablists playing together live to vinyl, each on a separate spiral, so you can only hear one at a time. So that's his thing
