A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Buffy Saint Marie? There's an interesting woman. I remember I was with The Skitch Henderson Combo. This must have been circa 1971. We were playing a modest gig near JAckson Hole, Wyoming, at the foot of the Teton Mountains. Well, we pulled the bus over to feed a semi-tame elk alongside the highway when this woman comes walking out of some tall weeds. We assumed that the woman probably had to sprinkle and was now returning to her car. We were wrong. Up out of the ditch-area, she lifts a gleaming Ovation 7-string acoustic, and she begins to warble some old Western song about a Strawberry Roan or some such thing. I knew in that instant it was Buffy Saint-Marie from the intense quaver of her vibrato. "Your Buffy Saint-Marie!" I yelled, and some of the other combo members nodded in recognition. It seemed to frighten her and she ran back into the weeds. I started to follw her, but Skitch grabbed my arm and held me back. "Let her go," he said. "Just let her go." He was right, of course, but I did so want an autograph. Perhaps I'll get one someday. For now, I stay in my little place in Weehawken overlooking the river; dreaming of the old days. We had such fun back then.

If he REALLY wanted to deal with real slave labor he would deal with human trafficking...and the persecution of Christian girls in the middle east. But that is not PC. So he does not.
