Sem Chumbo:

Let us not speak of the cargo shorts cult this fine day. Good morning, Micah, annie and Billy the L.
Billy London:

This track is blowing my mind this morning:)
Billy London:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12am

billy what on earth are you talking about
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12am

are you on mushrooms
Avatar 6:13am
Sem Chumbo:

Moi aussi, M. Price, plaisir à toutes les manifestations du champignon.
Billy London:

Yes! Nah I'm just amazed at how much I dig your music taste etc.
Cooh John:

Good morning. Time to join the herd.
Billy London:

That and I love Vincent and mushrooms!
Avatar 6:20am
Sem Chumbo:

Moi aussi, M. Price, plaisir à toutes les manifestations de porc désossé cuisine rôti.
Billy London:

I used to watch him every morning in Canada before school on " the hilarious house of frightenstein"
Avatar 6:35am

Ridiculous maybe, but highly enjoyable.
Billy London:

Agreed Dave.
Billy London:

This is a fun jam too!
Avatar 6:43am

I think the sun outside my window is encouraging enjoyment. I have missed it these last months.
Avatar 6:48am

here in the smoky mountains, we've been experiencing a drought, very odd for a temperate rainforest. there was an alleged arson here, which has burned 6 miles of the Appalachian trail and much acreage of our woods. pretty scary. and spring is progressing in a slow fashion... albeit a little early. climate change: subtle yet loud.
Avatar 6:49am

nothing subtle about it in the Pacific, Annie... just back from Hanoi and Manila... evening, all...
Avatar 6:50am

hey aus, i was just thinking about you...
Avatar 6:52am

in the context of arsonists? i thought i'd got away with it!
Avatar 6:57am

it's ironic, though, we take our plentiful water here for granted; the lush greeen is slow to come this year, the French Broad River running high, and we water our gardens which are usually watered by almost-daily afternoon showers.. very different pattern this spring. yeah, re: that "arson", it was third-hand gossip referring to someone who had apparently bragged that they would set fire to the mountain-side. this has not been proven true or false yet.. aus, you're off the hook
Avatar 6:58am

Just looked up the Smoky Mountains. What a wonderful place to live annie.
Avatar 7:00am

it's heavenly... and nestled against the blue ridge, our city is set atop a mountain of quartz.. cosmic!!
Avatar 7:02am
Sem Chumbo:

Ausmanx, good to see you here. How's the Vietnamese economic miracle looking?
Avatar 7:02am

got to Blue Ridge a couple of years ago, midwinter, covered in ice and snow, pretty spectacular... then i went to Gettysburg!
Avatar 7:06am

did you visit asheville? it's where i am. there are parts of the hillsides that never see the light of the sun, and yet literally covered with rhododendron full of spring bloom. were you able to visit the grotto near gettysburg, aus? and able to view the huge madonna on the mountainside? she is quite a sight to see. and standing at her feet even more jaw-dropping
Avatar 7:08am

everything's rushed in tourist mode... we need to look you up next time, annie!
Avatar 7:08am

please do aus...

Shinnyo-en has the kind of Wikipedia page where you can learn a hell of a lot more from the Talk section.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am

well, ya. i dont know anything really
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am
Goyim in the AM:

It's pretty clear from the talk section that they have secrets that they don't like getting out there.

Good morning WFMUland
Billy London:

Maybe it was the wrong White House?

Blessings and Peace. Micah. I have sad news, Prince the musician has died. He's just like his father.
Billy London:

There could be house somewhere floating a few mm above it's foundations to this very day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31am

A frequently repeated prediction, attributed to Maharaj Ji, was that the Astrodome would levitate.[3][53] Davis and others made often-reported predictions, repeated in half-jest, that extraterrestrials would attend the festival.[44][52][54] Bal Bhagwan Ji is said to have predicted the festival would be preceded by earthquakes in New York and Denver, along with a dive in the stock markets.[3][55] Sociologist Downton wrote that there were runaway expectations about attendance.[24] Public predictions of attendance grew larger: from 100,000 to 144,000 (the number foretold in the Book of Revelation for the Second Coming),[52] to 200,000 and even 400,000.
Billy London:

Astrodome is a word I've not heard in ages, I need to revisit this whole event.
Avatar 7:42am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am

This has got a touching quality to it. Should I be concerned?
Avatar 7:46am

I am grinning stupidly with my earphones in at my desk.

Human beings feeling it is always moving somehow -- you just gotta be careful about what the it is.
Avatar 7:49am

micah, were you able to find that book?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am

yes annie i amazoned it
Avatar 7:56am

very cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am

This is awesome. What language IS this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57am

i think its some kind of ancient gnostic tongue
Billy London:

Some fine picking going on there!

hey nice sounds

PEACE all. This Carole King Monkees cover is the bomb. Clicky star!
Avatar 8:14am

@Mica et al-I am beginning to realize the 60's were a particularly rich vein to mine for interesting music. I guess that is very obvious......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am

yea at some point in everybodys life we tend to realize that
Santos L Halper:

Judee! Been enjoying the shows on archive, Micah, thanks.
Kat in Chicago:

Hallo all. Annie, you're in Asheville! Beautiful area. I'm sad to hear about the fire. Also, nice waking up to Pleasant Valley Sunday.
Kat in Chicago:

I missed Vincent Price singing about mushrooms?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28am

not singing kat just telling us about them

I'd like to visit Asheville some day.
Avatar 8:37am

you should melinda, it's a great place.. work is scarce, but it's fine if you pass through on a visit.

This blind owl is great. I need upbeat tunes like this.

Wow, I also missed Vincent Price talking about mushrooms. And roast pork. Are those from his "Savory Dishes I'd Like to Enjoy With You" album?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43am

Kat in Chicago:

I went to Moogfest in Asheville in 2011. Brian Eno lecture followed by Terry Riley playing "A Rainbow In Curved Air."
Avatar 8:50am

yes, moog moved to durham this year, i think.. asheville has a knack for killing festivals.
Kat in Chicago:

I was thinking of the wrong kind of mushrooms

Hard to imagine Vincent Price doing the hallucinogenic kind. Though maybe Cary Grant talked him into doing LSD with him, who knows.

Mention of Moogfest on another comment board last year was what got me looking up Asheville but I think it moved to Durham. I discovered an Eco-housing compound type of place in the process though, along with other things.
Kat in Chicago:

Moogfest did move to Durham, and friends are playing it, but i can't afford to go :( I was born in Raleigh btw, lived around NC till sixth grade.
Avatar 8:57am

yes, there's an eco-village out near black mountain, i've never been, myself.. maybe some time. it's sad about moog.. they got annoyed at the COA last year and decided to move it. and we have the john campbell folk school in western carolina, too.
Kat in Chicago:

Hearing the last shred of JM in AM after Micah's show is so weird

No Nachum Segal today. So everybody, have a FABULOUS Friday!
