Mailman Tom:

I was sorry to read about the passing of Lonnie Mack. He was one of the greats.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm
Becky:

@Tom, I'll definitely play one of my favorites of his later in the program.
Avatar 8:24pm
Juke Joint Jonny:

Cain't be "Too Many Tigers" for Mr. Finewine, ammirite?
  8:25pm
herb.nyc:

Song is like "break my mind"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
Becky:

@JJJ you nailed that one right on the head.

All the people dying seems to mean pretty awesome tributes on WFMU in 2016. Silver lining of a sad cake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not so fine wine. Is more than fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
Becky:

@Jake What does sad cake taste like?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
Marcel M:

What an appropriate song to tune into. My wife just said to me, "drinking again?"
  8:29pm
JakeGould:

@Becky: Like a sad cloud with shitty frosting on top served at a sad restaurant by counter person who wishes they were somewhere else… Possibly dead…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm
Marcel M:

@Jake: Que fuerte

Greatest exchange ever:
Elvis: Do I sing the Devil's music ??
Jerry Lee: Sohhhn - you *are* the Devil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
Becky:

@Jake So like Entemann's?
  8:33pm
Tommy Haynes:

Up comes the coke spoon empty goes the wallet
  8:38pm
JakeGould:

@Becky: Dang you! You nailed it! I mean I should be giving you grief since I am Brooklyn born/bred and Entemann’s is sacrosanct to some… But in 2016? It’s just crappy supermarket cake. I’d rather have some Table Talk pies than an Entemann’s anything nowadays.

Ray SANDERS for prez!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
Becky:

@Jake I grew up near an Entemann's factory outlet. We lived on the stuff...which means it is very sad cake for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm
Marcel M:

I donno Jake table talk sucks. Entemann's is much better. It serves its purpose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm
Marcel M:

  8:44pm
JakeGould:

@Becky: Oh… Okay… Buying food at the dinged and dented food place can be sad. My sympathies.

@MarcelM: I like Table Talk. Deal with it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Marcel M:

Jake, you glorious titwillow, I'll eat them to but can you really say they are better than the entire Entemann's catalogue?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
Marcel M:

too*
  8:48pm
JakeGould:

@MarcelM: Table Talk is more consistent and reliable. I buy a Table Talk pie I know exactly what I am getting and it tastes great. Not the case with Entemann's; I’ve eaten some dry ass baked goods that should have been good… And they’re not as good as in the past.

Also, on the snack cake front I wish Drakes Yodels were as good as they once were as well.

I hear "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" in the background....cool!

The theme from The Beverly Hillbillies, that was.

Snack Cakes and country gold. 'Swhy I came.

P-90:

Can't have Entenmann's in the house. Can't do it. Not the doughnuts, the devil's food frosted sheet cake or the marshmallow frosted one. Or the pineapple cheese danish with the flakey yet sticky crust. Because: if it's not here I don't miss it, I don't crave it, but if it IS here, I will eat it compulsively 'til every bit of it is gone...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm
Becky:

Can't believe I'm playing an Olivia Newton-John defense song right now.
  8:55pm
JakeGould:

FWIW, artisanal Ring Dings are pretty good (but pricey) if you can find them. The few doughnut shops in NYC that still make their own doughnuts on site are also amazing.
  8:56pm
JakeGould:

@Becky: If you don’t defend Olivia Newton-John then who will?
  8:57pm
Renbo:

Hey when is your show over Becky I just got here?

And sad cake fot poor Lonnie Mack, a really, really important musician whose passing was completely overshadowed by the passing of a much more famous important musician...

I remember that as a young 'un that my mom would bring my grandma (who didn't drive) over to see great-grandma & grandpa. Great-grandma would have Mrs. Freshey's snowball cakes. I must seek those out and relive old food memories. Fresh ones, I mean. Not cakes that are almost fifty years old.
