TWO TICKET GIVEAWAYS ON OFFER TONIGHT:

Imarhan, rising stars of Tuareg electric music from Algeria Sat May 7 @ LPR;
and Coppe, Japanese electronica pioneer Sun May 8 @ Shapeshifter Lab!

To get in the running for a pair of tickets: Email me, Rob W, here and please put the word "TIX" in the subject line and indicate your first (and if possible second) choice.

We have tickets available to see two artists / ensembles performing in New York for the first time next weekend:

One up-and-coming new band, Imarhan, a talented young Tuareg electric outfit from Algeria with connections with the legendary Tinariwen, appearing at Le Poisson Rouge (LPR), 158 Bleecker St. in the West Village, Saturday night May 7th at 6:30 pm, with the Britanys and Invisible Familiars opening;

and one veteran artist, Coppe, Japan's "Godmother of Electronica", who despite a two decade career has never before played in New York, appearing at Shapeshifter Lab, 18 Whitwell Pl, Gowanus, Brooklyn on Sunday night May 8th at 7 pm. Coppe will be joined at Shapeshifter by guests: Kaoru Watanabe (taiko drum, shinobue flute) and the J-Music Ensemble led by Grammy-nominated saxophonist Patrick Bartley, and d3pths and David Ambrosio will open the show.

(Note - both bands / artists have one additional area show, both in Brooklyn: Coppe plays a free show at Pete's Candy Store Saturday May 7th and Imarhan appears at Baby's All Right on Sunday night May 8th.)

I have two pairs of tickets per show to give away. To get in the running for a pair: Email me, Rob Weisberg, here and please put the word "TIX" in the subject line and indicate your first (and if possible second) choice. If you are a winner I will email you by Monday. Deadline to enter the drawing is 11 pm Sunday. Thanks!
