A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Hi Trouble and listeners. This track is a relaxing counterpoint to the Polish news and pop station the builders are playing in the living room at the moment…

HolyCrow - how come I never heard of Vashti Bunyan until the 21st century...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am
Adrian in London:

@RevRabbit She was pretty much under the radar untila few years ago. She'd given up and gone to live on a smallholding on an island off the west coast of Scotland, if memory serves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am
Trouble:

you are in luck rev rabbit, since she has a few re-issues, and new releases still in print. fascinating story, she has
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am
Trouble:

i interviwed her on air, via phone several years ago. she was charming and super gracious
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am
Adrian in London:

And by 'given up' I meant on music for a while, not on life or anything! I think it was people like Devendra Banhart who encouraged her to record again. I did read when her last album came out that she went to her local college to learn music production on Logic etc and they wouldn;t let her join because they said she was too old. So she taught herself. She's Vashti Bunyan for God's sake!

One thing about Spring I don't like is the massive amount of cyclists that come out of the woodwork for the nice weather. I forget how good I have it all alone in the cold in the dead of winter.

"Saint Etienne Present Songs for the Carnegie Deli" is the most intriguing title I've seen in a long time. I'm reading about it, and it seems that the guy who put it together has it in his head that the Carnegie Deli is a diner. Reminds me of the time I heard a Brit fellow on stage at a downtown venue refer to an afterparty at "Katz's Diner". Newbies ...

Hey, random question, but I'm doing a design project for a client and he's given me a picture of this band, and we're trying to figure out who it is. It's not REM is it? Doesn't look like Michael Stipe, but it could be the angle. Did a reverse image search online but no luck... Thanks! picasaweb.google.com...

I'm pretty sure it's REM. That looks like Peter Buck and his Rickenbacker in the background. The image is flipped though, so he looks like he's playing left-handed.

They could be like the Ramones or the Donnas, everybody in the band's name ends in "Michael Stipe"
