Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. Last week I stretched out a bot with some home-produced pieces, a story. This week I was actually ready to return to the recent show "formula" of interviews recorded at Grand Central Station inter-mixed with select downloads curated by me that I always hope you might enjoy, find curious, or otherwise react to. However, when I arrived at Grand Central, it was extremely busy. No wonder people say, "It's like Grand Central Station in there." It is like GRand Central Station in Grand Central Station, only moreso. Thusly, it can be difficult, not to mention the station announcer constantly cutting in with train arrival and departure announcements which seriously derail the flow on my interviews sometimes. I am all for ambient sounds and the obvious allure of a transportational nerve-center such as Grand Central Station, but the train announcements are truly quite obtrusive for my purposes, and so it might be that I abndon GCS as a Dusty recording venue, and gravitate to some now and quieter spot. I do like a regular spot. For a time. And then one moves on. Union Square Park, Thompson Square Park, Washing ton Square Park, Bryant Park, Penn Station, Grand Central Station, Times Square, all of these are wonderful, and each has its distinctive character. Store interiors or other commercial interiors are often not good for Dustifying, as they tend to have piped-in music playing, which precludes me from selecting "my" music for background purposes, which brings me lots more happiness. After all, honestly, what DJ doesn't long to foist his favorite music upon you in hopes that you'll "get it" and buy in to the package. Not only today's Dusty Show, but the entire TNP ---- Hearty, Kevin, Spazz, Nick Name and .(low tympany roll) ... Stan. We've got it all for you on Thursday nights here at WFMU. And we certainly hope you'll buy in and make us a regular part of your weekly routine. We appreciate your continued loyalty and listenership, and we'll do our best to supply you with a premium broadcast product. Look the the time. I've gotta run! Thank you for stopping by. Anxious to do a full-on political thing, to be honest. I just like doing it. Also have a few more floperas and maybe a mothballed story or two to trot out. Yoo have fun now. Do fun things. Summer's almost here! It will be nice to shed winter's heavier garments and walk free and light in cottons. Take care good person. Always remember ... |
