Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm

Hay everyone! Welcome.

A world of carnivals is ok, but not clowns
Avatar 12:04pm

Long Island's own Illusion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm

How about those clowns in Congress? What a bunch of clowns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

One of the features on Captain Kangaroo was The Town Clown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm

Hi all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm

Hi Amanda and Scenarians
Love that picture!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm

I feel like I have a dim memory of the Town Clown... @coelacanth, thanks! They are clearly BFFs

I wonder if Pasqual ever met Dominick the Donkey

In from the start but futzing around the kitchen. How do, Amanda and all!!
Avatar 12:22pm

hi all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm

OK, we have a quorum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm

Dominick the Donkey was the only animal that wasn't out to get Lou, it seems to me.
Avatar 12:24pm

my favorite goat and and animal friend is Mr. G and Jellybean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
Doug Schulkind:

This Nick Mitchell piece is most lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm

@doctorjazz--no, these are all from my permanent collection (so far)!
Avatar 12:30pm

listener james from westwood:

w00t, new post-Amanda show! There's been a Kenzo-shaped hole in my heart for so long. (I'm seeing a cardiologist over ti next month.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm

damn, i didn't even know Lynn Anderson died last year. i'm not a huge fan; nonetheless, "rose garden" was the first lp i ever acquired new, (by choice) as a very young child, so there's a place in my heart.

This reminds me that I had a theoretical question about the GTD stream... If nobody was on after you, could you just keep the show going after 2 PM if you wanted, or would something explode?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm

i've heard Jesse K say that after 5 minutes it automatically switches to the stream; but Evan (Flash Strap) used to go far beyond his designated end-time; so...?

Wow, wow, wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm

I can go on as long as I like, theoretically -- BUT my work sched doesn't allow it. (Probably just as well!)

HBD Eric Burdon, by the way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Doug Schulkind:

Anyone on the Drummer Stream can keep going as long as they want until the next scheduled show is set to begin. WFMU has a computer that automates the creation of an archive of each show, and that cuts off 8 minutes after the scheduled end of a show. So if a DJ keeps going, only the extra 8 minutes will be captured on the archive (unless the DJ makes a local recording of the show and then submits that file for making the archive.)

So there you are.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Jeff Golick:

Additional bday greetings to Carla Bley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Jeff Golick:

[ I am often reminded of this, possibly apocryphal story about Art Blakey whenever I pipe up in the comments:

'Jazz drummer Art Blakey and his band once drove past a funeral in a rural cemetery. Blakey stopped the car and he and his band joined the small gathering at graveside. The preacher asked if anyone wanted to speak in behalf of the deceased. There was a brief silence, broken by Blakey's plea: "In that case, would anyone mind if I said a few words for jazz?"'

Nobody's perfect. ]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm

Cool, I'm a big Carla Bley fan, Happy Birthday indeed! Think there is an 80th birthday concert happening at some time.

Thank you for the explanation. That is the type of thing I wonder about instead of dumb stuff like black holes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm

Oh hell, I missed Lou Monte!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm

the Grand Poobah (Punbah?) has spoken. so it is so. (i almost put a "?" after "5 minutes")
...so Doug, i guess Evan always submitted the file later? that would explain why his archives sometimes didn't go up for several days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Jeff Golick:

This Lo(w) sounds very NZ-y.

Nosebleed Weekend has an arresting cover: cdn.shopify.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm

I have been recording my own archive for so long now that I totally forgot about the 8-minute rule. But for a good example of a lo-o-o-o-ong Drummer stream show, see Kurt's amazing Bowie tribute from this winter!

The roving mob joining him in the SNPP, when one of the protestors yells, "And we're not too crazy about nuclear power, either!" made me laugh as hard as the random "The finger thing means the taxes!" throwaway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm

Dennis Franz = great in that one!
Avatar 1:39pm

my fave Glam period Suzi!

...TJ White's voice reminds me of the guy in the Tindersticks - if he was Countrypolitan er somethin' (a very good voice)...
Like - there is usually an Artist that for some reason (??) I hear in everyone for a certain time...& right now I'm convinced everybody is all influenced by the Tindersticks...like fluctuating delusional paranoia limited to band influences...
