So excited to listen in real time for once!
Avatar 12:09am Scraps deSelby:

h'lo Wm., h'lo people.
Avatar 12:10am Wm.:

Hey, Swan! Scraps. ... salut
  12:10am JayD:

Dreaaaaaammmmyyyy, this Vinegar track
Avatar 12:11am dan in wisconsin:

Hello fellow Castle patrons.
Avatar 12:12am tracy:

Salut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am sinister dexter:

hi William and listeners good to be here
Avatar 12:15am Wm.:

@JayD I know! I found an old CD booklet last night & this was in it. Crazy obscure Kraut one-off LP. The whole album is quite bent, in a gorgeous way.

GREETINGS ALL!! WE'VE A GOOD TABLE TONIGHT. BOARDINGHOUSE REACH ENCOURAGED.
  12:23am JayD:

Oh my yes, this High On Fire track. Off to a grand start tonight, brother.
Avatar 12:23am Scraps deSelby:

Bats! or other things. Okay!
Avatar 12:24am Wm.:

I do what I can.
  12:25am Dean:

Vinegar makes me yearn for Der Electrolurch. Solid stuff. Second the High on Fire kudos.
Avatar 12:26am slugluv1313:

Good Evening, Wm. and Castle dwellers!
Avatar 12:27am Wm.:

Hi slugluv1313! @Dean you're killing me b/c I listen to that Guru Guru song regularly, it's something I just have to hear now & again....
Avatar 12:28am Scraps deSelby:

ooooh, I like this already. [put on headphones]
Avatar 12:29am Scraps deSelby:

[BANG BANG BANG BANG]
  12:31am Dean:

Yep, that and Grobschnitt's live Solar-Music are mainstays.
Avatar 12:32am Wm.:

@Scraps when you wrote that I was thinking of a Keystone-cops style shootout. WTF are you psychic?!
Avatar 12:32am Wm.:

@Dean it's like you know me
  12:33am Dean:

Wasn't everybody listening to that stuff in high school mid-'70s?
Avatar 12:34am Scraps deSelby:

[takes off headphone] What?

That cover.... so good!
Avatar 12:35am Wm.:

Dunno, I'd like to imagine that they were. I'm 51 & I got deep into Krautrock in the early 80s, so I was playing a bit of catch-up. ...
Avatar 12:38am Swan_Gone:

Criminy! Loving this track
  12:39am gravy:

BROTHER!
  12:39am Dean:

I jest. Some of us were listening, but not a full percent of the campus population, and I couldn't be more pleased that these bands have endured. I remember hearing tracks from "the new Guru Guru" album on Long Beach's (CA) progressive rock station in '76 or so. It was genuinely exciting.
Avatar 12:42am Wm.:

A "real radio station" playing Guru Guru--warms the heart to hear that.
  12:44am Dean:

Very real. Very radio. Good times those.
  12:44am Dean:

And yet, I've already notified a friend to check out Alkerdeel. Good times these.
Avatar 12:47am Wm.:

NOW is a great time, there's so much exciting new music, at least in the realms I favor
  12:50am medicalfools:

Brootal
Avatar 1:02am Scraps deSelby:

My iPad and Castle of Quiet doesn't seem to work well. So I'm using my phone to comment. Weird, but it seems to work (with the iPad playing the music). I mean, I still have to stay here with my rehab. ANYway.
  1:04am gravy:

A new Jailbird would be rad!
Avatar 1:05am Scraps deSelby:

Another shootout!
Avatar 1:07am Wm.:

ooohhhhh gravy HEY MAN! Good to hear from you!!
Avatar 1:10am dan in wisconsin:

www.youtube.com...

This scene goes well with the Human Dissention....
Avatar 1:13am Swan_Gone:

Love me a righteous double kick.
  1:13am gravy:

Watched Castle Freak today and though of you.
  1:15am JakeGould:

I wish films non-ironically implored us to prepare ourselves.
Avatar 1:16am Swan_Gone:

@Jake I second that
Avatar 1:16am dan in wisconsin:

Stuart Gordon is an underrated director of the horror. Re-Animator is a favorite of mine...
  1:17am JakeGould:

“Remember to say to yourself: It’s only an Adam Sandler movie… It’s only an Adam Sandler movie… It’s only an Adam Sandler movie…”
Avatar 1:17am Wm.:

How I love Castle Freak. What was up w Stuart Gordon & all those freaked-out head-giving scenes?
Avatar 1:19am dan in wisconsin:

I've found that Koyaanisqatsi by Godfrey Reggio is a film that pairs well with most Black Metal.
  1:20am gravy:

Any head is good head?
Avatar 1:21am Wm.:

Not always. Ouch!
Avatar 1:24am Swan_Gone:

Lumpy is a Spanish teacher. True story...
Avatar 1:26am Wm.:

...a Spanish teacher & yet so much more!
Avatar 1:27am Swan_Gone:

Real sweet guy actually. My bandmate just told him about tape headcleaners. He was surprised.
Avatar 1:45am Wm.:

Ha! I always just use a dab of alcohol to clean tape heads...my Grandad was an audiophile & indoctrinated me in that stuff....
Avatar 1:46am Swan_Gone:

Real audiophiles are pretty rare in the midwest. Working at a record store made that very apparent.
  2:14am gravy:

Facialmess! Niiiiiice......the split he did with Suppression is a classic.
Avatar 2:22am Swan_Gone:

Some peoples I know who are way more knowledgable than me pronounce it Schul-Ze. Am I wrong? I need answers!
Avatar 2:30am Wm.:

That is probably the correct German pronunciation, yes. I grew up around a lot of synth-music freaks & they all pronounced it the way I do. Force of habit, yes, probably "Americanized." I wouldn't discount either pronunciation, only b/c the one I use is the one I've heard used by many.
Avatar 2:33am Swan_Gone:

Regardless dude is legend. On that Walter Wegmuller Tarot record he announces him the way us Americans say it so I dunno.
Avatar 2:36am tracy:

www.youtube.com...
Avatar 2:37am Wm.:

@Swan_Gone So funny you mention that! Years & years ago, 90s, a colleague here challenged my pronunciation, and that was my defensive citation! Ha.
Avatar 2:44am kimgland:

schulze pronounze...shulltzuh ---like in shit- pull tzuh (sort duh)
Avatar 2:47am kimgland:

i meant short duh
sounds confusing i know
Avatar 2:50am Swan_Gone:

German is such an alien tongue to me. It creates a great abstract context for much of the tunes I love.
Avatar 2:55am Wm.:

I'm familiar with pronunciations in German, I heard quite a bit of Yiddish as a youth and it was good prep. I'm just gonna refer everyone back to that Walter Wegmüller / Tarot LP where Klaus is introduced (by a German, speaking in English) as "Kla-Shoo," no "uh" emphasis at end; that is what Swan is referring to anyway ... they were all quite high, I'm sure....
Avatar 2:56am Swan_Gone:

Also it's "The Fool" track so maybe a piss is being taken.
  8:21am Shaqueela Goddess of Lox:

This show makes me happy.
Avatar 9:40pm SiHV:

Digging the Alkderdeel. Wonder if they'll do vinyl. Also the Hebosagil, no surprise there.
