@V Priceless although I am a huge Misfits fan and will probably partake in what ever tour they do after the Riotfest show I have to say I'm actually more excited about the AC news.

@ coe - the ACG 'Killer'-inspired album reunion is astounding news....something I've been lobbying for since...1974! Ha! Too bad Glen is RIP.

Diane, I remember you did a peer pressure segment with Tom Lyle a few years ago -- if you could play a couple of Government Issue songs in memory of John Stabb that would be nice. And yes musicians just need a better health plan

Tom is my guest next week, we'll be donig a 2 hour tribute for John Stabb

@V Priceless I've always wanted it but after that Billion Dollar Babies set at Chiller last fall I've literally been dreaming about it. And seeing how good AC still is the other night just wow.

Avatar 12:36pm
Cheri Pi:

Congrats Cecile! I may need to die with my bootlegs on
Avatar 12:37pm
Cecile:

I would sit down with someone and see for sure - you never know. I thought we were doing something wrong by being cautious but not too cautious in our savings and whatnot. It was a complete shock and surprise to us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Rich in Washington:

These bootlegs were made for watching.
Avatar 12:38pm

but now I think it opens up some doors - we might travel a bit more. Explore some options for changing jobs if some stuff is portable.

Rev. Turnip Druid:

back from mtg!
th'ROOSTER!
Avatar 12:42pm
Cecile:

To discourage older savers is wrong. So you have maybe $100,00 after years of saving instead of $1 mil. It's still better than zero. Not all of us can put away 5 grand a year in our 20s.
Avatar 12:43pm
Cecile:

Rev, the director of the Helvetica movie was at the conference I went to yesterday. Not only is he an aging punk rocker, he started his talk with the Beat Club clip of the MC5 doing Kick Out the Jams
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

The folks in those TV commercials certainly look like they're having a great time in retirement. Good for you, Cecile!
Avatar 12:45pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Cecile: NICE...
I finally got to see the Helv.movie last year. Never understood all the knee-jerk hate. I'm usually the one militant helvetica-defender in any group.
Avatar 12:46pm
Cecile:

Well, the first thing we're going to do is get part time jobs and work until Social Security kicks in. I personally want to subscribe to the Elliot Carter retirement scenario - be 103, working on something you love, take an afternoon nap and just not wake up.
Avatar 12:47pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

have been emphatically infatuated with Alte Haas Grotesk for years. All type on earth could be just that. Joy forever.
Avatar 12:47pm
Cecile:

I got a book of all the interviews from Helvetica, Objectified and Urbanized. You and Massimo Vignelli would have been best friends, Rev. Except you would argue about Fraktur all the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
chris:

you type heads
Avatar 12:48pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Also: missed the Toad track. I assume it was the old '70s LP? I just discovered that via youtube recently. Loved it.
Avatar 12:49pm
Chris from DC:

Preclicked
Avatar 12:49pm
Cecile:

oh, but the sad thing was is that the type designer gave a boring lecture on the history of type, and the audience either fell asleep or texted each other after he got to around 1700. We're horrible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Rich in Washington:

I couldn't get ten minutes into Objectified. Maybe I should try again. It just seemed like it was so full of itself and people who really are into their stuff. I just found it off-putting for some reason. Maybe it got better. I don't know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Rich in Washington:

and I really like and appreciate design.
Avatar 12:50pm
Cecile:

I haven't seen the movie, Rich, but I have liked the few interviews I've skimmed since I got the book yesterday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Rich in Washington:

I really enjoyed Helvetica even though Helvetica and I have moved on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm
chris:

prog heaven
Avatar 12:52pm
Cecile:

and the filmmaker operates from obsession. I'm sure if my interests didn't overlap, I'd be bored as hell. Although we agreed that obsessing on the MC5 Beat Club clip was a worthy thing

Rich in Washington:

I'm now in a relationship with a Gotham HTC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm

That MC5 Beat Club video should be a religion. I had no idea Wayne Kramer was such a hot shit rock dude.
Avatar 12:53pm
Cheri Pi:

I can't believe it's finally Th'Rooster day
Avatar 12:54pm
Cecile:

I like Helvetica, even though it was a bit more like a radio show than I liked. Still, pretty good for it being his first movie. And the full interviews in the book are awesome. Even though Massimo Vignelli would hate me.

Rob Tyner's bad teeth are a beacon of inspiration.
