Good morning Tony and all psychedelic forks.

The Monochrome Bleu tape is the one at the top of the pic (as is probably abundantly obvious).

Greets Carmichael, you old rhinoceros!

Free twizzle stick for anyone who can ID the LP underneath today's cassettes.
Avatar 12:20pm
Tony Coulter:

No guesses? OK – no twizzle sticks for any of you. Anyway, it's this thing: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 12:21pm
Tony Coulter:

.... by the U.K. band Ruth's Refrigerator....
  12:24pm
MrFab:

What's up, T-man!
At first glance, the LP underneath the tapes appeared to be some kind of Victorian take on "Here Comes The Warm Jets." Is there a pic of Eno clad in a velvet suit and a monocle under the tapes?
Avatar 12:26pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, MrFab!

Nope -- it's the cover of the Ruth's Refrigerator ‎epic "Suddenly a Disfigured Head Parachuted." They are a Deep Freeze Mice–related outfit.....
  12:29pm
MrFab:

Deep Freeze Mice! There's a name I hadn't thought of in ages.

Still, I like the idea of Eno-goes-antique. One can only imagine what that would be like...
Avatar 12:31pm
Tony Coulter:

Eno is looking very normal — and very briskly healthy — these days.
Avatar 12:32pm
Tony Coulter:

My guess is he will far outlive Bowie, Prince, et al....

I gnawed my left foot off at the ankle to escape the trap sprung in order to skip a meeting and tune into your show today, Tony.

Rich!! Maybe someone here has a spare left foot they can give you....

I like that one Devo style pic, where they are all staring together ...

yeah -- it's sort of Devo meets Kraftwerk.

I like that pic with all those keyboards and modular synths - that's a lot of gear for a one-note bass line!

For a Devo-ish band photo, see the first Flip Side release, a 7" of my band, taken at a local park: https://www.discogs.com/M-Espionage-Baby/release/3851534 Click on photo to enlarge. Btw, the note at discogs regarding sleeveless copies is simply untrue. All 200 came with a sleeve.

The original Adventures of Twizzle was some kind of animated kid's show: www.youtube.com...

Heya, Dean! Nifty image! Are those medieval fencing helmets, or sumpin?
Avatar 1:22pm

As I said, Adventures of Twizzle (A.O.T.) took part in the Mixed Band Philanthropist project, by providing raw material: www.discogs.com...

So, one of the two guys from Adventures of Twizzle (Paul Coates) has also collaborated with Richard Rupenus (Alien Brains, Bladder Flask, New Blockaders, etc., etc.) and Merzbow: www.discogs.com...

Tony, did you manage to catch Peter Brotzmann in your neck of the woods last Thursday night?
Avatar 2:11pm
Tony Coulter:

No! Only peripherally registered he was coming, then forgot all about it (silly me).

How was he when you saw him?
Avatar 2:13pm
Tony Coulter:

... with his quartet, I guess....
  2:13pm
Dean:

Wonderful. Really, the quartet was top-notch. Steve Noble and John Edwards have been around forever, and the younger vibraphonist from Chicago fit right in.
  2:13pm
Dean:

I was tempted to head to PDX on Thursday, but that would have been...excessive.
Avatar 2:15pm
Tony Coulter:

He was playing at a sort of unlikely place here: Mississippi Studios, which is usually more hipster/indy-oriented ... though, to be fair, I guess they do branch out.
  2:17pm
Dean:

Opening act was Patrick Wolff Special Sextet, performing as a quintet because Marco Eneidi was ill. Ben Goldberg is in the group. Unlike Brotzmann's group, these guys worked from charts. Koglmann-esque, I'd say.

Yes, well, The Chapel in SF's SOMA is certainly a hipster joint. This evening, though, the demo skewed older (me, for instance). Larry Ochs was in attendance.
Avatar 2:23pm
Tony Coulter:

Each copy of this D.D.A.A. tape has a unique cover because the cutout image on the left is different. I'm partial to my image....
  2:27pm
Dean:

The title, "Projection Médiévale," and the timbre of the voice suggest this was inspired by René Zosso and his work with Clemencic Consort, e.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBZjx5Ms4GI
Avatar 2:33pm
Tony Coulter:

Well, they are certainly going for the medieval with that illuminated-manuscript–style cover lettering.
  2:33pm
Dean:

Make that " inspired by René Zosso and his work with Clemencic Consort" and Captain Beefheart.
  2:34pm
Dean:

That's a majuscule!
