@Blissland: More like America is a Christian society even if you are not Christian in the U.S. It’s a culture based on being a WASP if you want to fit in.

haha, Mayuko said the c-word (and i'm not talking cancer). let's use News of the Weird's euphemisms, started in mid 1990s - penis is CLINTON and vagina is DWORKIN and asshole is ORENTHAL and f*ck is NEWT and sh*t is HELMS. get it? inventor Chuck Shepherd gave an example: "man i was so helms-faced last night".

(1) i just read in National Geographic that if population continues, then farming will need to increase and that will be a heavy load on the environment (2) hole from stomach reminds me of a scene in Silicon Valley season 2, where a guy is called Double Asshole.

I'd like to invent the Oreo Arby's slider cookie. The filling is Arby's roast beef. You can dunk them in Horsey Sauce™.

I tried to get into baseball because there are so many American idioms tied to that sport. I eventually gave up, but got some insight.
Thanks again for playing some great stuff from Okinawa.
John Henry got praised in many songs, even from white singers way before desegregation, something I find interesting in a hopeful way. My favorite living author, Colson Whitehead, had a book mentioning him too. (He will have a new book out in the fall, I'm really psyched about this)
Avatar 12:36am
Mayuko:

You're right, fred, I realized later on that even I have several John Henrys in my library (and the John Jacob Niles one has been my fav song! and yet), I never made any connections btw them. Mostly because I didn't understand what they were singing. So many things for me to learn before baseball!
