Phosphorous was accidentally discovered by alchemists boiling and reducing urine because they thought since it was gold in color it was, in fact, gold. Phosphorous is cool stuff, it burns when exposed to air. Pretty dangerous!

The alchemist Mary the Jewess invented the bain-marie, also known as a double-boiler. This was back before the 4th century, when people had names like "Mary the Jewess". en.wikipedia.org...

Cliff It's really more of a fanciful (and very detailed) recreation of an alchemist's lab than a serious museum. Fun and interesting. Plus a bar next door selling "alchemical" concoctions.

I wish I had a turntable. I was in an Amvets thrift store and saw some cool Jazz record from 1971 or so with a bunch of cigarette butts on the cover in PRISTINE shape with a bunch of other jazz and pop music from the same era...I used to collect records but I gave all 350 or so to JB in Jersey City in a fit of minimalism...and left my stereo out on the street in the lower east side for someone to take. I was so DUMB! Why didn't anybody stop me??? Some stuff should be kept!!!
