Sat. May 3rd, 3pm - 6pm:
Peter Wolf / Swamp Dogg
(More info...)
Peter Wolf
returns to The Todd-O-Phonic Todd Show to discuss his amazing new memoir, "Waiting on the Moon: Artists, Poets, Drifters, Grifters and Goddesses" (Little, Brown). Best known as the singer of The J. Geils Band, Peter has led an incredible life. His time spent as a DJ in Boston was pivotal to his sensational career.
The legendary Swamp Dogg (aka Jerry Williams) discusses the soon-to-be classic film, "Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted" (Magnolia Pictures). The film features Swamp Dogg and his "bachelor pad of aging musicians" painting his pool alongside the likes of Mike Judge, Jenny Lewis, John Prine and Tom Kenny while discussing the trials and tribulations of the music industry. Don't miss the Monty Hall screening on Sunday May 4th.
Jon Savage makes a return engagement to The Todd-O-Phonic Todd show to talk about his latest book, "The Secret Public: How Music Moved Queer Culture from the Margins to the Mainstream" (Liveright). With books such as "England's Dreaming", Jon has established himself as one of the leading authors on music and popular culture and this fascinating study only further enhances his reputation.
Sat. Jun 7th, 3pm - 6pm:
John Carpenter
(More info...)
Famed director and composer John Carpenter joins Todd-O-Phonic Todd to discuss his incredible career. The French Directors Guild referred to John as, "a creative genius of raw, fantastic, and spectacular emotions" when they bestowed The Golden Coach Award upon him at the 2019 Cannes film festival. In addition to directing films such as 'Halloween", "Escape From New York" and "The Fog", John also composed most of the music for his movies. John will be performing at The Knockdown Center on October 9th and 10th.
I just saw this Asbury Park Press article about tonight's "Soul By the Sea" dance party at Convention Hall, featuring DJs Jonathan Toubin, Jack The Ripper and Todd-o-phonic Todd.
Thanks Todd, you're absolutely right. It took the British Invasion for many of us (of a certain age) to discover the treasures of American music such as blues and R&B.
