@PeteL: I have a computer in my pocket, NYC is gripped by a “heat dome” and Donald Trump is a presidential candidate… So yeah, we truly live 2016 A.D.

I think robot president would place his/her/it’s sunglass on the back of it’s head, vape and ride a hoverboard while saying the word “Gluten!” repeatedly.

Hi Ike. I don't know what this dome thing is all about. But granted, it's hot as hell.

@geezerette: I’ve watched a few cartoons and I believe you can stick your head in a freezer and in a short whole you can pull your head out encased in a perfect ice cube and you won’t die at all. It was in a cartoon, so it has to be true right?
Avatar 8:30pm
geezerette:

Yes,luckily. It's been around 100 degrees though.
Hope you have it too.
Avatar 8:33pm
geezerette:

Jake,that's absolutely true.
For best results listen to Carl Stallings while freezing.

Also, when penguins cry it’s always in tiny ice cube form. Perfect for a nice summer cocktail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm

I have no AC but it isn't as hot here. I learned that there is such a thing as a portable air conditioner last week, so I might look for one.

It's nice and cool here in the studio, of course. But it's been pretty brutal outside. Was at an outdoor concert in Brooklyn yesterday and I nearly melted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm
coelacanth:

it's been brutal but i was just outside and it's pretty nice right now. (connecticut) last evening or the night before around 11-12 o'clock it was 83F and extremely humid.
  9:03pm
JakeGould:

It’s that kind of heat that when you are in an air conditioned environment you don’t realize it’s air conditioned until the second you push open the door to leave and BOOM… Utter wall of heat.

"lady Jane" AND "borrowed tune"! (Neil Young)
Avatar 9:21pm
Linda Lee:

i was thinking the same thing re Lady Jane!
Avatar 9:24pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

SirMacca's experimentalism was, perhaps, a tad more social climbing & Artsy - a genuine desire to Educate & 'better himself'. John's of course was more personal & visceral - & chemical...to settle himself & his demons. In another sense - Paul was more dedicated to Craft - brilliantly so of course - & John was more Middle Class than the others & more an Art School Beat guy into expressing Himself - a little higher in Social Class than the others in fact (Ringo was especially Poor) raised by his Auntie - but also more pain in the Parental dept. & such...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
coelacanth:

Dave, (@9:07) i'm not that familiar with Thomas Dolby, but in relation to everything else i've heard, that's my favorite song.
...kind of like my favorite dinosaur jr. song being a non-electric banjo based song, which it is.
  9:26pm
herb.nyc:

Toxic comedy? Wear hazmat suit if going?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm
coelacanth:

George Harrison was easily the most fundamentally adventurous of the 4. John took his example and ran with it quite easily...Paul tried very hard.
Avatar 9:28pm
Dave Mandl:

@coelacanth: His stuff was usually much more new-wave-y and very synth-heavy. "She Blinded Me with Science" was his big hit, I guess.
  9:29pm
Carmichael:

And "Cars".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm
coelacanth:

right. he was good at that cheezy synth pop too; it's just not my cuppa.
  9:29pm
JakeGould:

“Cars” was Gary Numan. *sips tea*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
coelacanth:

are you thinking of Gary Numan's "cars"?
Avatar 9:30pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Paul was the most invested in Music - George thoroughly about Mysticism, considered himself out of place in this World - John was full of Questions - Politics, Love, Existentialism - really troubled by himself & the World...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm
melinda:

I loved She Blinded Me With Science.
  9:34pm
Carmichael:

Apparently I am ... Next time on Jeopardy, I won't take "synth music for 500, Alex."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
joeray:

Good evening, Dave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
coelacanth:

Paul, true. John, also true.
George, no. his mysticism came later. when the beatles started he was very into music, but was shit-poor and had no lessons and a crappy instrument. he was into car & motorcycle racing and into girls. he liked to drink and could handle it better than the others.
he grew up with constant music in the house, but nothing formal.
...Paul played trumpet(?) and was following in his father's footsteps before meeting John. that song sculptor never left Paul. very little was not considered and reconsidered as to how it would be received by others.
Avatar 9:42pm
Dave Mandl:

Hey there, joeray.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm
coelacanth:

...in other words, when Paul was weird, it's because he had calculated that being weird was the right way to go.
Avatar 9:45pm
Linda Lee:

& so who was living in the thrift store cupboard in the electro-boy episode of the Mighty Boosh ~ Thomas Dolby or Gary Newman?
Avatar 9:46pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

George was always the Dark Horse, the Little Brother standing back & observing - which led nicely into the Mystical phase, & standing apart from the World, really. Lately it's much discussed how into cocaine he was for a while...
Paul's experimentalism was genuine - the tape loops on Revolver, &tc. - which he would learn about from hanging w/ knowledgable ArtsyFartsy people. He was the one who would go to George Martin to really Learn about orchestras & Music Theory. His natural innate Musical ability is *staggering*.
John is the sort who would tell George Martin the feeling or color he expected in a Production - w/out any knowledge of Technique to get there. A little less responsible - but more Visionary...He drove them Forward obviously.

The radio friendly version of Nan True's Hole!
Avatar 9:49pm
Linda Lee:

my goodness, just realized i've been misspelling Gary Numan's name for 30 odd years..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm
melinda:

That's funny, Linda.
  9:51pm
Carmichael:

He is NOT Alfred E.'s brother.
Avatar 9:52pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...he...was in the Cars?? I thot that was Todd Rundgren...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm
coelacanth:

he is. Alfred, his brother, changed the spelling because he was embarrassed by Gary.
