Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am Uncle Michael:

Mornin'! I get to pick the radio station!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am Jeff Golick:

Works for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am Uncle Michael:

I pick this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57am Jeff Golick:

Avatar 8:57am hyde:

good choice, UM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am Uncle Michael:

Mornin' hyde. Stop kicking my seat.
Avatar 8:59am duke:

Hello D:O, UM, hyde etc. etc, and so on
Avatar 9:00am hyde:

it's restless leg syndrome. i have a note from the doctor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01am Jeff Golick:

Don't make me pull this show over. Hi, @hyde! Hi, @duke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01am Uncle Michael:

Avatar 9:02am fred:

@hyde: I first read your post as claiming "restless keg syndrome", a problem more frequent with college students
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am Jeff Golick:

Bonjour, @fred!
Avatar 9:07am hyde:

@fred heh. it's a little early for restless keg syndrome. maybe later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am Jeff Golick:

I bought this record this morning, via download, on the basis of this review: www.freejazzblog.org... Haven't really heard it yet! Hope it's good.
Avatar 9:09am fred:

"Restless keg syndrome" could be a band name
Avatar 9:12am fred:

@Jeff: this link doesn't work for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Jeff Golick:

Aha. Extra dot. Try: www.freejazzblog.org...
Avatar 9:13am fred:

This one works!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'My Buddy' - a little like Trane doing Brubeck. Which is to say - Beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am listener james from westwood:

In from the start but singing (or at least humming) along in the shower! Hey, Jeff, and all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Jeff Golick:

I asked for requests this morning on twitter, and got one...for Anthony Ortega.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Jeff Golick:

Howdy, @Revolution Rabbit Nov63! Welcome, newly clean @ljfw!
Avatar 9:29am fred:

@Jeff: I guess I only make negative requests, like yesterday. And I'm not on twitter. But Ornette was my first choice anyway, so thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29am Jeff Golick:

No joke, when I went to the discogs page for Crisis just now, the banner ad on the right was for Trump. That sound you heard? Irony dying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am Jeff Golick:

You are welcome, @fred. I think this album remains in need of a formal reissue, at least in the US.
Avatar 9:33am fred:

@Jeff: weird, I don't get banner ads on discogs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am Jeff Golick:

@fred: maybe you wisely use ad-blockers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They have Jeff cybertargeted as their kind of malcontent...
Trump used 'Can't Always Get What You Want' on the trail - irony dying indeed.
Avatar 9:38am fred:

No, I think it's because I'm in one of the countries that's on Trump's enemy list. I won't be allowed in the US if he's president, and I don't have a vote, so why waste ad money on me?
Trump ads on discogs, really? His campaign is really going off the rails
Avatar 9:41am fred:

@RRN63: maybe they keep track of users of gold sharpies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am Jeff Golick:

Going full freeform this set.
Avatar 9:47am duke:

Sam and Dave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am doctorjazz:

What a great set...don't get the Twitter feed, but the 2 albums I've been listening to a lot recently are Allison Miller's "Polar Bear" and the recent Matt Wilson Big Happy Family album..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56am Jeff Golick:

Heya, @doctorjazz! Need to hear those...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am doctorjazz:

Seem to have lost the show...I'll try a different source.
Avatar 9:58am duke:

gotta run. Thanks for the tunes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Jeff Golick:

Bye-yya, @duke! Thanks for bein' here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am Andrew Waterloo:

good morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am Jeff Golick:

Good morning, @Andrew Waterloo! Very early riser, you are!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Uncle Michael:

That was excellent music to haul downed limbs to the burn pile, to. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Jeff Golick:

Hah. Just as I planned, @UM. You are entirely welcome. Thanks for hanging while you haul.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am doctorjazz:

Great track, this D'Agaro, horns do meld in a set/sad way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am doctorjazz:

Spent a few days in Great Barrington lady week, had spent summers there years back, same kind of mixed feelings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am doctorjazz:

...last week, of course.
Set is REALLY melancholic, grab me a tissue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am Jeff Golick:

Will try to turn things around in the last hour, @drj.
Avatar 10:25am Jason Elbogen:

This is nice, but I was confused because the pop-up player made me think this was from 1916!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am Jeff Golick:

Hey, @Jason! Welcome; great to see you here. Recovered from your Studio C experience on Friday?
Avatar 10:32am Jason Elbogen:

Actually just the fact that I was able to broadcast at all was a personal victory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am Jeff Golick:

I know how you feel. Sincere congrats.
Avatar 10:35am Jason Elbogen:

[RE: Chris Knox/Tall Dwarfs] While I loved watching the Boredoms play when they were a crazed/spasmodic band (as opposed to Krautrocky one they morphed into later), The Tall Dwarfs put on the best concert I ever saw... Opening for Yo La Tengo at the Knitting Factory, sometime in the mid 90's....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Jeff Golick:

Wow, Jason, that must've been something. Jealous; never saw them. I wonder how Chris Knox is faring these days...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Jeff Golick:

Just wait for the beat to drop on this van Huffel.
Avatar 10:43am fred:

@Jason; sorry about dragging you into the complaints yesterday, but I though Mayuko would know about playlist workarounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am listener james from westwood:

For a second I thought my Wi-Fi had burped! But patience paid off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am listener james from westwood:

@Jason: Was very happy to hear all the high school/small-press cuts Friday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am Jeff Golick:

Yeah, @ljfw, kinda dicey. This cut doesn't scream "radio friendly."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am listener james from westwood:

IIRC the transmitter gets antsy during long silences. But the web abides.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am listener james from westwood:

Sorry you and Mitzi have to part, but yeah, when the kids are taking damage on the regs, you have to make a call. Many people wouldn't have taken the time to find her a home, though, so good on ya for watching out for her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Andrew Waterloo:

A friend of mine fosters dogs and kid/pet incompatibility is a usual culprit especially for senior animals.
Avatar 11:12am fred:

Kids, pets, and bosses often demand attention that isn't easily shared
  11:12am Dean:

Literary prescription for melancholy: begin with a reading of Keats' ode to same, then proceed to Christopher Smart's "Jubilate Agno," a meditation upon the author's "Cat Jeoffry." An excerpt:

For fifthly he washes himself.
For sixthly he rolls upon wash.
For seventhly he fleas himself, that he may not be interrupted upon the beat.
For eighthly he rubs himself against a post.
For ninthly he looks up for his instructions.
For tenthly he goes in quest of food.
For having consider'd God and himself he will consider his neighbour.
For if he meets another cat he will kiss her in kindness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Andrew Waterloo:

Little girls can't look at a cat without trying to pick it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am Jeff Golick:

What @Andrew said. It set the stage.

Coming this spring: Pet Show II - the Dog Days.
  11:14am melinda:

Enjoying the show
Avatar 11:14am fred:

Aesop Rock has a great song about his cat (though the video features another): youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am doctorjazz:

Had a similar problem with my previous dog, really jealous of my kids (who invaded her space), but she was really old, didn't love that much longer. Younger kids are particularly a tough match with some pets. My kids are older now, and Ozzie is really attached to them.
Avatar 11:16am Jason Elbogen:

Fred: no problem (about discussing the non-Western font conundrum on Mayuko's show)!
James -Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Jeff Golick:

Heya, @melinda! Delighted to hear it.
Avatar 11:17am Jason Elbogen:

And it's been a long long time since I heard this Yo La Tengo song. (I had 'Human Music' on cassette!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am Jeff Golick:

Nice, @Jason. I think it was one of the earlier CDs I bought...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Jeff Golick:

Sad to report that it appears Connie Crothers has passed away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Jeff Golick:

So back to the melancholy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Jeff Golick:

I wish I had a wider selection of Crothers' work to share.
Avatar 11:25am fred:

Sad to hear, so many great musicians I first hear when they die
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Andrew Waterloo:

@fred. That's part of why it's so important to pay tribute.
  11:28am John in England:

A very recent CD purchase of mine (mainly on the strength of Connie Crothers' contribution) was 'Hommage A Bartok' by Steve Swell's Kende Dreams. Recommended! RIP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Jeff Golick:

Thanks for the rec, @John in England! And wonderful to hear from you!
Avatar 11:31am fred:

@andrew: Scott McDowell once said it"s even more important to draw attention to musicians who are still around. I endorse that
  11:33am John in England:

Thanks! I always look at the playlists, but it is usually after the show has finished.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Jeff Golick:

I agree with Scott McD's view, but nevertheless want to also pay tribute when an artist falls.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Andrew Waterloo:

@fred and I think WFMU does spend most of its time drawing attention to musicians that are still around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Too often introduced to an Artist when they pass these days - even Prince, in a way. That is a bittersweet thing. You're deprived of the enthusiasm for what might come - but it's a logical time to get an overview & things...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Uncle Michael:

You can fool me. It's not hard.
  11:57am John in England:

I first became aware of the original Destination Out website when Alice Coltrane died and you re-upped a couple of tracks that needed to be heard. It is very important to mark these occasions because people feel a real sense of loss.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

No doubt - being confident you can't be fooled is the quickest way to being fooled - & they know that - they're no fools...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Jeff Golick:

A story: a friend of my teen son kept telling his dad to look at the ceiling of their apt. "It says gullible on the ceiling, dad!"

Joke was on him, though, as it indeed say gullible on the ceiling. The kid had written it there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks Jeff.
  12:01pm Dean:

Gullible? Isn't that the guy who smashes watermelons?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks muchly, Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Jeff Golick:

Aw thanks to y'all for hanging here for whatever that was: @UM! @Dean (belated hello!) @listener james! @Rev Rabbit! And all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
