Heya KG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Michael 98145:

vinyl is the new black
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Ike:

This stinks! I'm switching over to Elbogen! [Elbogen plays three off-key children's choirs in a row] Never mind, this is fine. As you were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Michael 98145:

*remarkably* cocky
Avatar 3:06pm geezerette:

Shake dem bones!
Hello Kurt and maze trekkers!
Avatar 3:13pm Kurt Gottschalk:

wow, ol' ikey didn't last long.

hello, everyone else!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Ike:

Was just kidding. This is good!
  3:16pm Brendan:

Hello from the precipice of the weekend
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm SeanG:

  3:18pm devlawn:

I tried googling Giblet - Octave because I was digging it but I couldn't find anything about it.
Avatar 3:18pm Kurt Gottschalk:

i'll put a link on the playlist, gimme a minnit
  3:19pm Brendan:

I'll say. That Giblet was tasty. And this Sabbath tinged jam ! A most auspicious beginning Kurt....
  3:19pm devlawn:

okay cool thanks kurt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Michael 98145:

  3:21pm Brendan:

Ya give him a minitaur two
Avatar 3:22pm Kurt Gottschalk:

best i have for givlet is a facebook page but there's info there if you scroll

Avatar 3:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

also: hello.
Avatar 3:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

was minding my own business when the Hawkwind Alarm went off inside me brain. Rushed to the board & discovered a minotaur at the b/w victrola...!
Avatar 3:27pm V Priceless:

cool carry-over db theme from last show - yay!
Avatar 3:27pm Kurt Gottschalk:

this one's for vinnie p
Avatar 3:28pm Kurt Gottschalk:

ha, thought jinx, veep
  3:28pm Dean:

Burning Shed is due to reissue that Hawkwind album along with the other Charisma recordings, including Hawklords.
Avatar 3:28pm V Priceless:

thanks, Chalky! You owe me a beer - ha!
Avatar 3:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

That Hawklords LP is a classic in the Druid household. Bainbridge on bass was a great thing.
Avatar 3:31pm V Priceless:

whoa - Ferry did this @ The Beacon gig last month!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Michael 98145:

great set
Avatar 3:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

what 98145 said.
  3:33pm Dean:

That's the tour I heard, Hawkwind at the Starwood in LA. But between this show and Uncle Michael's closer from Agitation Free, I'm feeling pretty miserably stupid. I had all these LPs--the Hawkwind on Charisma and earlier stuff, the first two Agitation Free--up until mid-'80s, when I needed space for something or other, so I unloaded them. Dammit.
Avatar 3:34pm Jeff:

that is all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Michael 98145:

yikes, Dean
  3:35pm Dean:

Dumb, dumb, dumb, stupid, stupid, stupid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Michael 98145:

been there, done that
Avatar 3:36pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Dean: similar story here. Moving too much, sold off the whole vinyl collection between 89-93. It's taken this long to recover (shakes fist/empty wallet at Discogs)
  3:37pm Dean:

I'll probably pick up that Burning Shed set. I prefer vinyl, but there is some consolation to having a tidier CD package to store.
Avatar 3:38pm V Priceless:

Melvins/Jello version of that Roxy Music track is pretty great, too. King Buzzo claims Jello's been doing a Ferry impersonation his entire career, which is hilariously accurate when you think about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Michael 98145:

i'm gonna run outta stars
Avatar 3:39pm Kurt Gottschalk:

that's amazing
  3:39pm Dean:

Ferry should cover "Too Drunk to Fuck."
  3:40pm zm:

Hey Kurt, I heard you'd be back at Give A Drummer Some channel. Is it true?? Hooorayy~
Avatar 3:44pm Kurt Gottschalk:

zm, true, tuesdays from 3-7pm for a couple months, starting in a couple weeks
Avatar 3:46pm V Priceless:

cool PG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm BLCKDGRD:

I love the first four Gabriel solo - Charisma? - this is from Melt - or at least that's what I've always heard it called.
Avatar 3:47pm V Priceless:

from the 'cymbal-less' record!
Avatar 3:48pm Kurt Gottschalk:

charisma was the first label to release it. we always called it "3" but yeah, the melty one.
Avatar 3:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

aye, this is no.3 i believe. Bit of Kate Bush back there. & Larry Fast/synergy, if memory serves.
  3:49pm Dean:

One of the LPs he rerecorded in German, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm BLCKDGRD:

1. Car 2. Scratch 3. Melt 4. Security is what we always called them, they're all terrific!
  3:50pm Dean:

...and all casualties of the late-80s purge. (Dumb, dumb, dumb, stupid, stupid, stupid.)
Avatar 3:51pm Marcel M:

Hello Kurt. Sounding good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Michael 98145:

( those boxes of vinyl get so damned heavy )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Michael 98145:

Gawd, i was just thinking about 999 the other day.
  4:04pm Dean:

Not that anybody's counting, but 999's first album? Purged.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Michael 98145:

"I live in a town with a hundred lights around,
my head is like a radio set,"
  4:09pm krissy b the 420 queen:

Yeeeee P.I.L.
  4:12pm Dean:

I feel like I'm being visited by the Ghost of LPs Past.

Avatar 4:27pm geezerette:

Bluddy well ded.
Avatar 4:30pm geezerette:

Antique Punk! Actually a tradition!
  4:32pm Brendan:

This should segue nicely into some death metal
Avatar 4:34pm Kurt Gottschalk:

(or maybe the opposite)
Avatar 4:34pm geezerette:

So much fun. :D
Avatar 4:38pm V Priceless:

hmmm.....I can hear Joe Frank speaking over this...in my mind, that is.
Avatar 4:38pm geezerette:

nimble switch!
Avatar 4:40pm geezerette:

V. Priceless, perfect!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Michael 98145:

So much music in the late 70s
Avatar 4:48pm V Priceless:

my vote for best Heads tune
Avatar 4:48pm Kurt Gottschalk:

veep, ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm JtotheK:

for Talking Heads 77, "Don't Worry About the Government" is another good one.
  4:58pm Michigan Water:

Fantastic set. thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Fuzzy:

Daleks love this tune! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!
Avatar 5:00pm geezerette:

"Many third worlds in our first world city."?
Great writing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Stanley:

Just tuning in, what a playlist!
Funny, I heard "Don't Worry About the Government" in the pub this evening.
Avatar 5:03pm Kurt Gottschalk:

geez, i think it's "living third world in a first world city."
Avatar 5:05pm V Priceless:

Avatar 5:05pm geezerette:

Kurt, makes sense.
Avatar 5:06pm geezerette:

Love this Jam song.
Avatar 5:06pm Kurt Gottschalk:

yeah - it's a great song.
  5:08pm Dean:

Oasis, "Rock 'n' Roll Star." Good use of "city" in the lyrics.

This Lykke brings to mind Blurt, Mars...
Avatar 5:09pm Kurt Gottschalk:

i don't think i'm allowed to play oasis
Avatar 5:10pm Kurt Gottschalk:

bad enough that i played of montreal and fiery furnaces in the same show last week
  5:10pm Dean:

All the more reason...
  5:10pm Brendan:

Momma don't allow no Oasis playin' 'round here.
  5:11pm Brendan:

Midnight at the Oasis 45 @ 33 being the exception
  5:13pm Dean:

I bet "Slide Away" on 45 at 33 shreds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Stanley:

Thank God you can play Ivor Cutler
Avatar 5:14pm geezerette:

A Beefheart compatible song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Fuzzy:

Play What Thou Wilt shall be the Whole of the Law.
Avatar 5:14pm V Priceless:

got Slade 'My Town'? : )
Avatar 5:18pm Kurt Gottschalk:

i think i gotta move in to some summer songs now -- and yet, no "summer in the city"!
  5:19pm Dean:

Why not forge straight ahead to some fall songs? (Get it? "Fall" songs? Crack myself up sometimes.)
Avatar 5:20pm Kurt Gottschalk:

i get it, i get it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Fuzzy:

Great -- another band name that's useless to try and (Google unless I'm hungry.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Michael 98145:

sounds like they are singing in a house of teriyaki.

Our Japanese friends find it hilarious we have teriyaki restaurants; it is after all, just a sauce.
Avatar 5:23pm V Priceless:

Copper Chord of August's organ!
Avatar 5:23pm Kurt Gottschalk:

fuzzy, house of teriyaki? just something i found on youtube.
  5:23pm Brendan:

Avatar 5:26pm geezerette:

A lot of Beachboys in this XTC.
  5:26pm Brendan:
