There's always at least 1 track from the current year on your show that I need to insta-star, and this Niki track was the one. Wouldn't be surprised if there are more to come!
@The Contessa - Hi, glad to be here. I think I finally solved the mystery of what the previous owner poured down the kitchen sink. It was evidently a funnel of pitch!

@The Contessa, recommend to recall the scene from RUMBLE FISH Tom Waits the ice parlor keeper says ".. these kids would know..., how many summers left.... how manyyy...
hi sheila, im from croatia, which is actually a part of former yugoslavia as well as you probably know... im happy to hear you had a very nice time in montenegro, i have never been there actually despite the fact my grandfather was montenegrin. and yugoslavia had a pretty good music scene imo, even though new music released here is pretty bad. admittedly, i dont spend that much time trying to find new cool (former) yugoslav gems
Hi Sheila! My friend from Slovenia describes "turbo folk" as "fireman's fair music." It's a collision of polka, disco, and pop that's real drunken party music. Check out You Tube videos for a band called Atomik Harmonik, particularly "Tractor Polka."
@Antonia - My dear uncle Wally was from Croatia. My mom told us that when my aunt introduced him to the family, no one knew where Croatia was. That would've been in the 1950s.
Hi Sheila B. This is my first opportunity to tune in to your show and I am really enjoying it. I guess I'm not usually near my computer at this time (I live far away so the radio is not an option). Thanks for the swell tunes!
The web sez: "At the peak of their success in 1984 the Dolly Dots had their own TV series, Barbie dolls, wallpaper, and a #1 hit, "Love Me Just a Little Bit More (Totally Hooked On You)". "
Welcome Home @DJ Sheila B, I missed your voice and energy while you were gallivanting around Europe. Loving this last hour of the show! Alas, I will have to catch up to the first two hours on the archive. Something to look forward to!

Yeah, sure, Paris is burning, blah blah. Well, I'm telling you I live in Paris and the only reason it's burning is because there is no AC. And the trains stop running at 12:30 pm. So dream your little dram Ladyhawke and shut the fuck up.
