...w/ the opening figure of 'Before You Go', I wondered if Richard Shindell might be in line to try & sue Led Zeppelin...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46am
Jeffrey Davison:

Yeah! I definitely thought Led Zep too!

i think there was a flying griffen in "Jason and the Argonauts"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00am
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@annie: Harryhausen had a Griffin in 'Golden Voyage of Sinbad' - but did not feature it in flight. Said the Monster Culture kid...

annie:

thanks for that, all those stop-motion films have congealed into one in my mind. we loved 'em as kids.
Avatar 7:04am
annie:

a quick googl shows images of flying griffens.

...when the Balrog took Gandalf down, he somehow did not use his wings...monsters & wings are a peculiar thing...
Avatar 7:09am
Hams:

supposedly there are also griffins without wings.

annie:

hi duke!!
Avatar 7:31am

Hi Annie. I also loved those old Harryhausen films. My son and his friends used to try and make stop-action films but didn't have the patience so they ended up with a film of kids pulsing toy dinosaurs around.
Avatar 7:34am
annie:

yeah, my son did, too. he also got frustratd and made flip-books instead. some of his hand-made characters were creative, though.i still have a couple after 20 some-odd years. it's fascinating to watch that creative genius emerge.
Avatar 7:37am
duke:

My son was also into flip-books in a big way at certain age. He would download cartoons, print parts frame by frame to make a flip-book
Avatar 7:42am
annie:

wow! i often wonder what would develop if we foster those talents instead of severe regimented education. i miss the days of vocational education. ... but.. my son did have a chance to go to an extra-curricular class, "Film for Production", which was really just a class on how to sell stuff. did not get his creative juices going at all, but he never fit into a mold anyway.
Avatar 7:42am
annie:

we saved all his flip-books, too.
Avatar 7:43am
annie:

some day, when he's famous they'll be worth a few bucks
Avatar 7:47am
duke:

we've been holding onto those flip-books. Haven't seen dime one. :-)
