The largely Jewish audience in my house IS interested in the crazy-ass music WFMU plays!

Here comes my pledge.

Hi folks
  12:54pm
alexander:

Hi Liz, good show as always, but just a heads up the way you were talking about the drive time show that attracts a large Jewish audience was bordering on offensive.
  12:59pm
Listener142985:

wow. one really has got to pick one's words with extreme caution sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Liz Berg:

@alexander: no offense intended, the JM audience is indeed tuning in for Jewish cultural programming, not something that we offer at any other time of day on WFMU. Those folks coming for news/music in Hebrew are quite a different crowd from those coming to WFMU for our music programming.

JakeGould:

Robot Trance Party.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I guess Ken will expound on it tomorrow ... I thought that when Nachum departs, the current web-only programming will go out live on FM, like the rest of the day. But is there more to it? Current web-only stays like it is now and also a new set of programs that are FM-only in the morning? It's fascinating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm
Liz Berg:

WFMU is hoping to fill JM in the AM's timeslot with a new morning show that features programming more similar to what you hear on WFMU all other times of the day. Lots of music, probably some talk, maybe news, comedy, etc. It's a blank canvas, so we'd love your ideas!
  1:03pm
JakeGould:

The other aspect of "JM in the AM" is it's a consistent, 5 day a week show. No other show on WFMU is like that, so past content I think the goal is to have another consistent morning show.
Avatar 1:04pm
Marshall Stacks:

Morning Zoo Crew?
  1:04pm
JakeGould:

@Liz: Music, talk and call-ins are what I would want. I also want regular time and weather in the morning so I know what the day might be like for me.
Avatar 1:05pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Marshall Stacks: hosted by Kenny G & Billy Jam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Liz Berg:

Thanks for the feedback @JakeGould! Brilliant idea, @Rev!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

How is Nardwuar's health doing these days? He could probably provide some content. I guess doing it live may be a problem since he's in Vancouver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Liz Berg:

5 days of Nardwuar in the morning would certainly wake us all up, eh?
  1:11pm
JakeGould:

And here is a creative idea: What about a bullshit matrix for the coming day. Something based on what novelty day it might be, what major transit disasters might await us and possibly tips on talking to co-workers about popular TV shows, movies, books and the like.
  1:11pm
JakeGould:

No Nardwaur 5 days a week for any reason, please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Ike:

Nardwuar five days a week?! Yikes! I'd rather be raked over hot coals.
Avatar 1:12pm
Marshall Stacks:

@Rev. Turnip Druid: Yes, brilliant!

Or the return of Tom Scharpling?
Avatar 1:14pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Whenever schedule gaps occur, I end up barking for the return of Kenny G... his show kept me mentally alive during years of impossible deadlines. Even the *particularly* annoying ones. Loved it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Ike:

Well, he IS getting tired of reading those dumb Draft Kings ads, HA! But can you imagine Scharpling is a morning person? And all his Hollywood callers would be asleep and the rest of us too tongue-tied to call in and talk.
Avatar 1:15pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

...him & Dave Emory. Both effective under those circumstances, for very different reasons...
