Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
@terribilia. John, of course. No points for originality but hey... I'd say the fact he made the ONLY essential solo Beatles LP speaks a lot to this point.

well time to say goodnight Gaylord and all, it's been a very long day, see you soon Gaylord & all i'll sill listen.
Interesting thing about 'She's Leaving Home' is George Martin did not score~arrange the Strings (he had a previous engagement he honored, but Paul was in a hurry...) - Mike Leander did...
It's interesting & touching to hear ThemBeatles address the Generation Gap so directly & sensitively & intelligently - but some maintain it could've been arranged...um...w/ more restraint or something...
@JakeG: ...I was thinking that - on a Psychological~Symbolic level - in this confusing complex Year of the Fire Monkey - creepy clown hauntings are natural in an Election such as this one...Of course, Halloween has been getting bigger for some time, challenging Xmas...
If the people only knew he power of the people if the people only knew he power of the people if the people only knew he power of the people if the people only knew he power of the people if the people only knew he power of the people.
@Jake: I never doubted your childhood experience of living in the developer's shadow,(no need to name him),but it's been surreal to read every day something you've described.
@Gaylord: Yes indeed. I remember Clarence Carter closed the show and as soon as he started playing "Strokin'" everybody started leaving because they knew it was the last song! Everyone but us, that is.
Sam Cooke records are so damned - perfect. He was so self-realized - & it has to be remembered how early he was - dying tragically only a short time after The Beatles got to the U.S. in 1964.
