"The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport restrooms are currently undergoing renovations that will continue through 2025 to encompass more than 100 sets of public restrooms. Baby-changing stations are integrated into each restroom – all with an adjacent sink and paper towel dispenser. Meanwhile, accessible stalls include a sink and hand drying area, as well as automatic doors to provide a touch-free environment. Original mosaic art that reflects features of Minnesota is displayed within the restrooms near the entrances, created by a different regional artist at each set."

But see the link for the finalists.

Perfect music to bake pumpkin pie by, Irwin. Thnk you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Irwin:

Sem: A WFMU staffer used it as an opening theme for years. It's nine minutes long, and he played it from an overused cassette, so it sounded like crap. That song wore out its welcome in my ears.
Avatar 3:38pm Polyus:

Huh, after looking at pics, I know which ones they are talking about, but I didn't think they were that spectacular last time I was there. But I don't spend much time evaluating that sort of thing.
Avatar 3:39pm Sem Chumbo:

Oh, then I guess its OK to have a hate on it,-D.

Avatar 3:40pm Polyus:

I hope they name one of those restrooms after Idaho Sen. Larry "Wide Stance" Craig, who was busted trying to accost fellow travelers in neighboring stalls.

What was Verve doing letting Wilson talk about artists from other labels? Interesting to hear though.
Avatar 4:17pm dale:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Irwin:

Incredibly inventive arrangement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Carmichael:

I bought his Alarm Clock album when it came out. As a kid, I was bedazzled by his interpretations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Guido from Cologne:

It took me some time to remember where i know the Richie Havens song from:
the 2nd by Yes, where it makes a great opener
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Passaic River Blues:

This part of the interview is so good.
  4:38pm Dean:

Thanks, Guido. Scratched my itch, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Irwin:

The band Lighthouse also covered "No Opportunity Necessary" on their 1st album.
  4:41pm Dean:

And an excerpt from this Buckley tune was used by [some radio show once upon a time?] either as an opening or closing theme. Or a segue?
  4:43pm rf:

so lucky to have & hear this, thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Irwin:

"Goodbye and Hello" is a song searching for a genre.
Avatar 4:43pm geezerette:

God what an era.
Buckley is the kind of artist who seems to be an incarnation of Orpheus.
Avatar 4:47pm geezerette:

This reminds me of Judy Collins singing "The Black Freighter".
  4:47pm Thelma blitz:

The "new children" hahha we're senior citizens, those of us still here. So beautiful, still.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Irwin:

Buckley didn't like his own albums. Kept changing styles, never satisfied. Alienated his folk-rock audience, then alienated his new audiences. Some of his mid-period stuff (after G&H) is quite OUT THERE.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Irwin:

Geez: title is "Pirate Jenny." Brecht-Weil song.
  4:48pm Dean:

That refrain, damn. What was the radio program that used that?
Avatar 4:48pm geezerette:

Yes I do.
Avatar 4:49pm Monica:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Irwin:

"Morning Glory" became a standard for about six minutes. Lots of covers in the ensuing years, then forgotten.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Rich in Washington:

Irwin, someone asked me this recently; how did Tom get away with playing The Mothers on his show, from an FCC/plugola standpoint.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 5:05pm geezerette:

Zappa for posthumous prez.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Everybody Here Wants You' about JEFF Buckley :

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Irwin:

Rich: There's no regulation that prevents a producer from playing his own records.
Avatar 5:08pm geezerette:

Wild Neil, fingers crossed. Something will come through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Tim - in my Top 10 Singers
...tho' wild Fred Neil is behind a lot of his style...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm melinda:

Weird trying to imagine this song in a Monkees context.
Avatar 5:09pm geezerette:

Buckley is so intense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm coelacanth:

there was a youboob video of this. 'don't know if it's been pulled yet. this was just tacked onto the end of the show, i think... not worked into the sitcom in any way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm melinda:

@Rabbit: I like them both too. Especially this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Monkees had great taste. Hendrix on their tour was their choice (tho' a disaster)...

Merveilleuse chanson. Je l'aime bien.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Passaic River Blues:

Man, it's a little bit like Irwin is in my head. Last night, I listened to the Elizabeth Fraser cover of "Song of the Siren" and this exact Noir Desir track. Maybe the singularity will dawn on Thanksgiving morning?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm coelacanth:

  5:14pm JoeG:

Great stuff, Irwin. Still, on this day in particular, I really miss Joe Frank's "Pilgrim"; it had me rolling this time last year.
  5:15pm wild neil:

I love The Monkees. Watched their show as a little kid...in reruns...in the 70's...
Avatar 5:15pm geezerette:

hello coel! Wishing you warmth. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm steveo:

"Sometimes" is a 1975 song written by Bill Anderson, and performed by Bill Anderson and Mary Lou Turner. "Sometimes" went to number one on the country charts, where it stayed for a single week and spent a total of eleven weeks on the chart.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm coelacanth:

hmm, interesting. love that song, that album; but the album version much more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The'Oo are quite generous w/ the extras & stuff. I rather like them...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...TheWho had a tendency to play the instruments on their own records - so you were special if there was an exception.

Jazz is America.

  5:46pm flashbazbo:

Irwin I heard you say "Town - Shend" Is this possible?
  5:47pm Jack:

Irwin, I've been hearing a lot of Grateful Dead music on your show lately. You turning hippie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Irwin:

There is an "H" in his name. I don't think I've ever uttered his name verbally. Pete never comes up in conversation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Irwin:

Jack: It's from the same covers album. And it's the only two Dead songs I like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Carmichael:

Filthy hippie, as Fabio would say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Written by Phil Lesh when his dad was dying.
'American Beauty' lives up to its' audacious title.
Avatar 5:49pm glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm melinda:

This is better than the original.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Michael 98145:

what melinda said
  5:49pm flashbazbo:

You said it back announcing "Accidents"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Henry Rollins wasn't the 1st Punk to know the Dead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm coelacanth:

i grew up saying "townSHend" because that's how my older brother said it; but i think it is an "S' sound with an almost silent "H", technically.
...i'd bet ya Pete doesn't give a shit how you say his name.
  5:51pm Wild Neil:

American Beauty is sublime...unless its creampuff wars...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Irwin:

flash: Yes, it's the first time in my life Pete's surname passed these lips. It was a virgin pronunciation. The first time is always awkward.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm melinda:

I like Ripple.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Michael 98145:

Pete don't care cuz he suffers from partial deafness and tinnitus
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Town's End...& Entwistle - no 'H'...
  5:53pm Dean:

David Murray Octet's album of Dead covers ain't half bad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm coelacanth:

"punk" is just a "hippie" in a different era. "punks" who are anti-hippie are just closed-minded assholes.
...and the grateful dead were pretty punky deviants when they started out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Michael 98145:

that first Dead LP was pretty fine in its time
  5:54pm flashbazbo:

Man I know. But you can say Ray Davies any way you want to.

John Enth-wistle is my favorite who
  5:55pm Dean:

Anyway, the W in Who is silent, too.
  5:56pm Fredericks:

Thanks for playing the "right" kind of jazz, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

For all the Punk talk of 'Anarchy' - no other band has come closer to actually creating an alternate society than the Dead. I believe the story is the Dead went to 'plastic' L.A. (mahhhn) & did speed for their 1st album - & felt it didn't represent them. I knew I liked something about it. They were The Warlocks in the beginning - & fairly 1966 Garage Rawk like everybody else...then Jerry brought the Folk~Country, Phil the Serious - & so on...
  5:57pm flashbazbo:

THank god it wasn't the H that was silent. WOuld've been a little archaic and awkward.
  5:57pm Fredericks:

Especially stuff I'm unfamiliar with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Passaic River Blues:

For the record, this was some fine radio today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm coelacanth:

Thanks Irwin. esp. Thanks for airing the historical.

  5:58pm Dean:

Would have been much worse if the proper pronunciation of w-h-o were "osmond brothers."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm melinda:

Great show, thanks!
