I was just going to comment what Scraps just did....A great intro, Cremo!

It's.... maybe not an intro

Suddenly I'm having a deja vu -- and I don't have them anymore since the stroke. I thought.
Avatar 3:36am
Scraps:

Deja vu with This Heat soundtrack.... okay
Avatar 3:47am
Scraps:

Oh yeah

...or even worse than people following The Dead were people following Phish!!!
Avatar 4:32am
Creamo Coyl:

Phishheads are pretty much only good for nitrous. They always have the best nitrous.

When you search for This Heat on Ebay Velvet Underground LPs/CDs also appear in the search.

i saw the Grateful Dead over 600 times. every time mattered and it also enhanced my love of "non mainstream" music.

My old dentist used nitrous oxide exclusively...ah, those were the days!!!
  4:38am
b k:

don't diss what you don't understand!
Avatar 4:41am
Creamo Coyl:

I totally understand nitrous oxide. We always had a pretty deece relationship. I've babysat more than my fair share of tanks at various parties in weird places over the years.
Avatar 4:45am
Scraps:

Any people passionate about music, period, are people that fundamentally share my primary interest, and therefore I will be more open to.

Mostly.

Nitrous is fine, unless I suspect I'm that close to dying

@b k: I meant no disrespect to the Dead; I actually really like them. I really don't care for Phish. The only time I liked what Trey had to say was when he was on the Charlie Rose Show talking about his guitar heroes Jerry Garcia and Frank Zappa live! Do you must listen to the Avant Ghetto?
Avatar 4:47am
Creamo Coyl:

What did the Deadhead say when he ran out of pot...?
Avatar 4:48am
Creamo Coyl:

"Let's listen to some THIS HEAT, man!"
Avatar 4:48am
Scraps:

This music sux!
Avatar 4:48am
Scraps:

Okay, that's a better line
Avatar 4:49am
Creamo Coyl:

Haha that was my twist on a classic. Somebody make some t-shirts.

b k:

I was at the Zappa/Garcia show in Chicago in 1984. It was well worth missing my grandfathers funeral for. Nothing shows anyones musical ignorance more than not getting the Dead.

Nothing.

They seem to be the same people that never "got" Sonic Youth>
Avatar 5:11am
Scraps:

I saw San Francisco's other great band, the Dead Kennedys, at least fifty times.

Anybody who doesn't get my favorite band is a gunky.
Avatar 5:11am
Creamo Coyl:

I knew I should never have mentioned the Dead. And therein lies the problem! But boy am I glad This Heat existed. Truly a stupendous band. Monumental.
  5:15am
b k:

I wish I I had got to see the DK's even once! Closest I got was having the picture sleeve 45 of "To Drunk To Fuck".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15am
joeray:

I "celebrated" Trump's victory by playing the Dead Kennedy's We've Got An Even Bigger Problem Now on the radio.
Avatar 5:16am
Creamo Coyl:

I thought that having all the dates with he live stuff on the playlist would draw the implicit connection vis a vis my "This Heat should have been the Grateful Dead the cosmos is cruel and the public are idiots" but when you open up the can of Dead worms, the fur starts flying. It's like I'm a teenager again. Right around the time I discovered This Heat ---->
Avatar 5:17am
Creamo Coyl:

I guess we'll just have to settle for Ozric Tentacles. Pass the balloon, man....
  5:18am
b k:

and a long dead ex girlfriend who would sneak of of to shoot dope with Jello when that was his thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19am
joeray:

Creamo, THIS show has been both stupendous and monumental. I know two people that I will turn on to the archive of it!
Avatar 5:20am
Scraps:

Well, This Heat should've been famous without any lessening fame for Grateful Dead....
Avatar 5:21am
Creamo Coyl:

Awesome glad yr digginnn it. I'm just trying to time travel via music, the usual shit.
Avatar 5:22am
Creamo Coyl:

Nope. It's one of the other. Total war. This was decided long ago and far away. Sorry everyone. Even Owsley preferred This Heat once he heard them. Between bites of steak.
Avatar 5:24am
Scraps:

Owsley? What's power pop to do with anything??
Avatar 5:24am
Creamo Coyl:

I should prob mention the Dead every show tho cuz these are the most comments in awhile. But I guess I'm saying that WFMU's version of the Dead is actually This Heat. We're rewriting history here, but not like Stalin -- like Burroughs.
Avatar 5:25am

  5:30am

I ate steak a few times with Owsley and his bud Bill Walton.Owsley always scolded me for eating the salad.

tomas:

FANTASTIC show. i will be grabbing this from the archives and listening to it a lot.
Avatar 5:35am
Scraps:

I'm sad that it's coming to an end. Snif.
Avatar 5:40am
Creamo Coyl:

Ha that's awesome re: Owsley. It's coming to end but will live forever in the collective unconscious.....
Avatar 5:57am
Scraps:

Thank you for this. This was a surprise.
Avatar 5:58am
Creamo Coyl:

I thought it might get boring and redundant but not really. Then again I REALLY like this band so glad y'all dug it..
