honestly, this is just like coming into a warm room full of friends after a hike in the snow.. shaking off the flakes in front of a fireplace. smiles all around. very sweet.
@Scraps: I wore out the my vinyl copy when it was first released. It's a great album made under unpleasant circumstances (AP and Todd could not stand each other).
...since 2016 & 1968 are both Monkey Years - perhaps White Album moods, masteries, & ranges from pastoral to cataclysmic are par for the course...Jumpin' Jack Crash...nothing Gaylord & Todd Rundgren couldn't handle between them...
Andy and such make good mood/mode music to prep me for the Perry Como Christmas in Austria TV Special from 1976, which I expect I'll watch a bit of later this evening -- but I'll keep this Gaylord show on. Recently saw some of Perry's early 80s Xmas in Paris show. Awful!
That's what I love about WFMU, you can hear all sorts of wild, crazy and transgresive music (and I mean all those words positively), but you can also find out which are the good Perry Como Christmas specials.
You probably know, but: 'Crooner' is a whole Genre - a whole Way of Singing. The electric microphone meant you could 'whisper' directly to people - not have to resonate thru a whole hall. The equivalent of Guitar going Electric, now I think of it. (The Guitar used to be thot of as an intimate parlor thang - not heavy enuff for Orchestra, what have you. Segovia determined to overthrow that, already...) Bing Crosby generally credited as the Revolutionary here - right before Frankie...& many in Pop & Rawk carry it on - like Jim Morrison (who could also scream & bellow - & all modulated on demand): considerably unpopular these here parts - but frankly in my Top10 Vocalists...
...I'm old enuff to remember being Modernist - & hostile to Sinatra (as he often was to Rawk). I vocally made fun of him - then gradually realized there was affection & imitation in that - which is the way of these things, isn't it? That is: I dig Crooners.

Way late to the big dance. Glad to see it's a wonderful boogie party.
@Linda Lee: Never worry! You're a welcomed guest in my house, and your comfort is my business!

I have been studying those freaks (Manson followers) in regard to their musical inclinations and what went wrong where. I have no clear or easy answers...
Folks - I struggle constantly w/ OverPosting disorder. It's in the screen & eye of the beholder (a lynch mob is a 'Democracy', after all). @ 1st I didn't understand how my *literal* over-enthusiasm could be turning others off from Commenting. Leave space for others - try & keep the signal-to-noise ratio high : respect the DJ & the music & the topics @ hand in the thread: listen & read as well as post...I figure it's Ultimately up to the DJ - as he/she is the Programmer & gets to say what's what (& there are in fact a couple I completely leave alone).
Another thing is: It's Community - but not necessarily Therapy. People support each other - but it's also about Music Entertainment here - the toybox of Life. Perhaps going to a Party to get Help isn't always the most effective strategy.
@Carmichael: Lennon observed that a.) Manson was 'cracked'. - & b.) He made some valid observations: society had rejected those people, & he took them in. I observe that Manson is held up as the inevitable Dark Side of the Hippies - but he was Older - close to Elvis' age - & had spent most of his life in Institutions & the rest of it w/ abusive step-fathers & such. Therefore - he's a product of *that* : he's Theirs, not Ours! Julian Cope observed that everyone freaked over Manson's small handful of murders - while Kissinger conducted illegal war. Also true.
