We heat up chilly NJ this week with the scorching sounds of Jagwa Music. (Jagwa being Swahili slang for Jaguar fighter jets.) Jagwa Music's turbo boosted mchiriku street music has been called "hand-made techno": Just their voices, fire-tuned home-made drums, one battered vintage casio and a whole lot of energy.

Jagwa Music’s 2012 album Bongo Hotheads (Crammed Discs) made a big splash in European world music circles and they’ve become darlings of the European rock and world music festival circuits.

Don't miss their Garden State radio debut, with big thanks to the State Department's Center Stage cultural-exchange program for bringing them here all the way from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania!
