Simply one of the monumental musical achievements of our time.

Joel St. Germain:

Hey Dean. Agreed. I'm tweaking it a little here and there just because I can't help myself. but it doesn't even need it.

upsetter5001:

Oh thank god it's the Residents ! I thought my computer was broken!
Avatar 12:24am
Joel St. Germain:

This has a strong Christmas vibe to me
  12:24am
Dean:

I haven't played the record in years, so I can't discern tweaks, but the spirit is there, front and center. "Please don't squeeze the Charmin," says Mr. Whipple.

Rotten brain TV eye'd me
Avatar 12:27am
Joel St. Germain:

Rankin/Bass had to have inspired this, IMO
  12:28am

I'd have guessed Nonesuch Explorer.

Allow me to translate:
"Get that gun out of my face."
"Hey babe, I'm down by the watering hole"
"Make Africa Great Again!"
  12:49am
Dean:

Holy shit. According to discogs William Bolcom wrote the liner notes to this LP. That's just beautiful.
Avatar 12:51am
Joel St. Germain:

that's cool. I've heard his name before but haven't heard any of his music. I'm sure we've got something here.
  12:52am
Dean:

He can be eclectic, for sure, but I never would have connected him to this. His settings of Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience are fairly remarkable, and he's otherwise written a ton of music. Most of us were introduced to him via "Graceful Ghost," which is definitely worth a listen.
Avatar 12:55am
Joel St. Germain:

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely check him out. Animals of Africa is one of my all time faves so why not dig deeper.

You could do worse than Paul Jacobs performing GG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jftAt4mXFk
