I didn't see the New Yorker article, but I was at NJ PAC for a different show when she was at the main stage. We had time to watch her on a TV monitor in the lobby for a while, and she didn't do much singing for a while, just strutting her stuff (which I suppose she's entitled to do...)

@Annie-Music teacher was what got me into jazz as well, had tried and not succeeded until I had a college course on Jazz History. Of course, having Chuck Israels (bass for Bill Evans) as teacher, with a substitute teacher like Lee Konitz (who brought his horn and did lessons on electric Miles) didn't hurt. Of course, I didn't yet know who these folks were when I took the course

National Norway radio operations going digital for what they regard as better clarity and reliability. Local stations will be out of it a few years later. But for a few reasons not everyone's thrilled, will have to get converters "...two million cars in Norway — a country of just five million people — don't have digital audio broadcasting receivers."
