A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

It's sunny here too, I should go outside :)
Avatar 9:07am Trouble:

how about this @polyus: this morning's art work is by sister corita kent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Adrian in London:

Sunny in London too, which means the Mayor has issued a smog warning, advising people, and I'm not joking here, to either stay indoors or, if one must go outside, not to 'breathe heavily'!!
Avatar 9:09am Sem Chumbo:

Hello, and good morning, Trouble, and those living in the Modern World, with all of its surprises.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am sphere:

I think Londoners are lucky because their mayor's last name is Khan. Trekkies must love this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Cliff in Prague:

I hope we can get the car/bus fire warnings on the morning show to add a warning not to breathe heavily if you're in the vicinity.
  9:13am melinda:

Hi Trouble and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Adrian in London:

Schumer also gets a lot of money from pharma, but he voted for it. This explains it well:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am ɨkɛ:

This is much better than a new reggae pirate's sounds in southern Brooklyn (blotting out a legit station from Kingsborough Comm. College, right on top of their frequency), which last night included reggae covers of "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "For What It's Worth." Not as great as it sounds.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am Ahtie Spheahz:

My pleasure. I visited my friendly neighborhood post office yesterday and was privy to the increase info. Yes, I bought more stamps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am Ken From Hyde Park:

Well, the Seven Second Delay stamp investment has increased in value, so there's that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am sphere:

i am in mourning. my vegetable peeler fell apart!
Avatar 11:02am βrian:

Sorry for the fallen peeler, but they don't last forever, remarkable as they are.
Avatar 11:04am Trouble:

i bought a kyocera peeler, it rocks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am sphere:

nice! i have been going vegan for health reasons, so my peeler and i have grown closer in recent weeks.
Avatar 11:06am βrian:

I keep two peelers on hand, but there a many things I no longer peel, such as potatoes and carrots. I just give 'em a quick scrub.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Planet Tyler:

Marching in DC! May the force be with you all who are getting out there
  11:07am Polyus:

That Jody Gayles song was just splendid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Ken From Hyde Park:

Just thinking aloud here. Are there any GIFs showing an orange creature from the Black Lagoon out there? I haven't looked yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am SSS:

When I make an apple pie, I peel the apples, puree the peels with the other spices and the corn starch, and pour that in . The pectin does much of the thickening, requiring less starch. Rally! Rally around the peels!
Avatar 11:15am Trouble:

i don't peel anything. i bought it organic and the peels are good for me so in it goes. i also don't iron. but perhaps that is another story
  11:16am Bill W:

Go, Nancy

Avatar 11:16am βrian:

An apple pie trick mentioned in the recipe below is to drain the sugared apples after they've been sitting, then reduce the captured juices.
Avatar 11:18am βrian:

Even OG apple peels are often coated with waxy schmutz to prevent dehydration. Not bad for you, probably, but kinda nasty.
  11:20am sugarwolf:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Ken From Hyde Park:

Also, chickens like eating peels from fruits or vegetables.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am SSS:

Chickens can get their own peels!
  11:29am JakeGould:

A peeling.
Avatar 11:31am βrian:

I've known folks who peel chickpeas. Seems excessive to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am steve:

sweet thumb piano action here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Priscilla:

I'm somehow singing along with this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am steve:

+1 eating the skin of fruits and veggies and not ironing!
Avatar 11:36am Blubird:

Thank you. Loveletter just brought me to new heights.
Avatar 11:37am Sem Chumbo:

I favour Erma over Jim on this one.
And, like Bruce McCulloch, I'm a Doors fan.

  11:42am Polyus:

wait, what was that instrument?
Avatar 11:45am βrian:

I hate to iron, too. But what do you do with a wayward placket? Mine look like tortellini.
Avatar 11:48am Trouble:

@brian: we hang up our shirts out of the washing machine, no dryer, and you can then manually smooth that placket, tell it who's boss
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am ⓘⓚⓔ:

Has anyone ever bought one of those little washing machines that you can hook up to a faucet? Does those actually work or are they junk?
Avatar 11:50am βrian:

"Hoosier Daddy, little placket?"
Avatar 11:53am Trouble:

  11:54am fred:

Thank you for the trouble, Trouble!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Priscilla:

Over already? :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Adrian in London:

Liking this Bing and Ruth track. Yes, march on, and remember how the women of Poland marched and changed the country's looming anti-abortion law.

Avatar 11:58am Trouble:

merci! steve, stephanie and adrian...
  11:59am Ahtie Spheahz:

@ike; the portable washing machine I owned was a freaking CHAMP. It worked for probably a decade before being replaced by a stationary machine (not because it failed, but because we moved into a house from our apartment). SO much better than having to hang out in a "laundry-mat".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Passaic River Blues:
