The shouty voice isn't my favorite, but two great shows. Todd has my vote, the Dan guy's shows were also really good. The worst was that Pigeon guy, whose music acumen seems below par. So there's my vote, in case you were wondering. Keep the mustard on the menu.

I voted for Todd in this space yesterday. Then I e-mailed Ken (link on the home page), and here I am once again voting for Todd. I love everything on WFMU, but I think a morning show in North Jersey needs to be a rock and roll show. So let's go. POW POW POW! Yell all you want Todd!

Todd bringing it as always...not saying you're not giving the best you got, but since the morning show is a new thing, perhaps you'd enjoy these pointers from morning show bootcamp?

The fact that Wilson Pickett never cut a version of "Born on the Bayou" amazes me. The track sounds like it was a track tailor-made for his phrasing and delivery. Fogerty even sounds like he was using Pickett as the template.

Reggae by contrast would put people back to sleep. I put in word too late to get my friend Fred Cookinham to put in for this, but I realize now that if it's the wake-up effect that's being sought, he wouldn't be so great for that either.

But maybe that's too narrow thinking, considering the proportion of audience that comes via stream. Maybe we should be serenading those big donors in Singapore, getting them to reach for checkbooks just before bed.

I've been scouting the talent at NewtRadio, new webstreamers whose studio I stumbled on Newton last week.

Yeah when I moved out of my last apartment, I found an old 30 foot long WFMU antenna that was so painted over and hadn't been used in seven years. It wound across the ceiling through a closet and out the window. I listen to the digital signal now too. Except in the car.

I listen mostly over the airwaves, especially in the morning when I can't be bothered to boot up my computer during my usual pre-work scramble. Always hated turning on my stereo (which would usually be tuned to FMU from the night before) and hearing that old morning show. And it was so jarringly out of place on such an otherwise cool station.
