Listener Robert:

Just want to remind you there are Trump supporters in the audience too. I'm much more a supporter than detractor of Trump, for instance. The reason I bring this up now is I just saw someone's comment on Reason's Hit & Run blog that he'd've rebutted someone today on Michael Shelley's comment thread for an anti-Trump remark, but was afraid he'd be banned from further commenting. I don't think MS would be that way about it.
  4:50pm
JakeGould:

“Just want to remind you there are Trump supporters in the audience too.” It’s your choice to be in the audience.
  4:51pm
Listener Robert:

But this person's point was that unless they see otherwise, they think everyone around thinks like them.
  4:51pm
T New B:

F*** you listener Robert. Hitler had plenty of supporters in 1933. This man's first week in office will go down in history as one one of the most shameful periods in American history
  4:54pm
Clarke:

my favorite music is apolitical. i am much more concerned with todd's inability to re-create the demonic signs on the Roky Erickson album.
  4:54pm
Listener Robert:

So fuck me. Just want you to know there are dissenters. There were dissenters to Hitler too.
Avatar 4:54pm
Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Let's try and keep things civil here folks, I know it is very hard to keep emotions in check right now and honestly it isn't easy to do a radio show. While I have never been more appalled by an American politician and his actions in my life, I will tell you Listener Robert that numerous dj's here are actual Trump supporters. I would not ban listeners from comments unless they start in with racist, sexist etc. remarks that have no place here.
  4:55pm
Listener Robert:

The main thing is, don't assume all the other listeners are like you in political respects.
  4:56pm
Listener Robert:

Exactly, Todd, and I don't think Michael Shelley would either. The only times I've gotten kicked off was when I got sarcastic about the DJs themselves.
  4:56pm
JakeGould:

@ListenerRobert: It’s not anyone’s job to babysit you. If one 3-4 minute song and a DJ comment upsets you so much, maybe you should worry about other things.
  4:58pm
Listener Robert:

It wasn't the DJ comment, it was that of [some screen name probably not corresponding to any recognizable here] on that blog. I'm just showing him it's not like that here.

Hitler killed more than 11 million people. Trump is right on track by opposing the possibility for sanctuary of people fleeing from tyranny and through his support of Russia's expansions.

If you read history, you will wee that the Germans discounted Hitler's rants as excesses. Hitler's early initiatives were to discount an independent press and to establish "alternative facts".
  5:10pm
JakeGould:

My alternative fact: I discovered WFMU while climbing the side of a building on the Upper East Side. Full confesh: I am a reformed cat burglar and I made a living back in the day stealing fancy jewels and artwork from the homes of dowagers and trophy wives of Wall Street execs.

- because it's a System that doesn't serve the true interests & welfare of the People & the great Nation. We would like a Chief Executive that takes us Forward rather than Backwards - especially 16 years into the 21st Century - when the great United States has fallen behind - in Health, Education, Science, Business, Race Relations, Justice, the Environment, our Infrastructure (streets & bridges, Transportation) - the Fairness, Efficiency & Transparency of the Electoral Process, on which all Democracies depend, more than any other thing - & yes, Journalism & Truth.
...The Rich are Rich already - & they are not Hiring or Spending. There is plenty of Wealth - it is not the fault of Liberals & freeloaders. Don't believe the Big Lie - however powerful the Hater who tweets it.

i know I don't comment on here very much but I just have to throw my two cents in: Trump supporters simply cannot be reasoned with - they are convinced Trump is the Messiah and is going to make everything better. Realize - it's polarized by design: the 'Republican Revolution' Of Gingrich & Karl Rove ended cooperative functioning bipartisan government in the United States in favor of Politicking & Propaganda.
Obama did what he could on Health Care: www.pbs.org... If the Republicans have a better way to deal w/ Big Business here (Insurance, Pharma) - let's finally - & for once - have the details of their great & significantly different plan. In the meantime - it's true - 1,000s will die. & every other developed nation will wonder what the hell the United State's problem even is - because as w/ Guns - we are the odd man out & alone w/ this problem...
