Howdy all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am
Amanda:

Howdee @sugarwolf! Marathon time's coming up, I'm a little sad that you MIGHT not adopt me again this year.

And howdee to you too @Marc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am
Stevel:

Just in time for Delicate Steve! (Never my nickname, as far as I know.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am
Uncle Michael:

Will I be adopted, or will I reach DJ puberty in the orphanage?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am
Stevel:

UM: I'm thinking you'll start a performing career as DJ Puberty and The Orphanage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am
Doug Schulkind:

Good morning, Amanda and all lovers of big-hearted radio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am
Amanda:

This is very tangential, but I'm reading a great nonfiction book about Rin Tin Tin (the dog actor). The man who trained him was raised in an orphanage for part of his childhood, in the 1900s.
  9:17am
Rich in NC:

Good morning all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, all. You don't have to be nuts to listen to this show, but it sure helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am
Amanda:

I'd imagine that's true
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am
Amanda:

This record is really speaking to me this morning tbh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am
Uncle Michael:

Kin Vassy is the shizzle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am
Uncle Michael:

Is this an Emitt Rhodes song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am
Uncle Michael:

The Underground Sunshine song...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am
Tim 07030:

Good morning Amanda and listeners. These songs are keeping my Robyn Hitchcock/YLT show vibe going from last night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am
Uncle Michael:

Tim, did Matt Warwick play with them again last night?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am
Tim 07030:

Yes he did, Uncle! I really should have mentioned that considering this audience!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am
Amanda:

Ah - sweet that you were able to go to that Tim!

UM, the Underground Sunshine jam was David Gates all the way. But maybe Emitt Rhodes recorded it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am
Uncle Michael:

Cool!

(and I see that David gates wrote "Don't Shut Me Out" maybe it's on the Merry-Go-Round album?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am
Uncle Michael:

gonna drive me crazy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am
Uncle Michael:

Wow...a Bread single stuck in my head in the wrong drawer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am
Amanda:

Wait, what? Wasn't Don't Shut Me Out the one you were asking about? I am confused. Yes, it was written by David Gates and he was in Underground Sunshine before he was in Bread
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am
Uncle Michael:

actually, an album track from their debut
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am
Uncle Michael:

He's singing it on the Underground Sunshine single? I recall the Bread record in a higher pitch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am
listener james from westwood:

Diorama, eh? "I begged you to look at mine first! I begged you!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am
Amanda:

The Facebook invite specified, several times, "no cow hearts."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am
listener james from westwood:

LOL!! Well that way, at least nobody will try to make a monkey out of anyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am
Amanda:

Well... let's hope. I am kind of worried I may bend my wookiee on the way to the event
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am
Little Danny:

Hello Amanda, hello all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am
Doug Schulkind:

I have raw sewage covering a large swath of my basement floor. How about you guys?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am
listener james from westwood:

One of the first WAVs I ever downloaded was that Ralph quote w/ Chewie's roar added at the end. It took like 20 min to download, which was the style at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40am
listener james from westwood:

Good gods, Doug, what a nightmare!! Hope possessions and pets aren't too fouled up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42am
Doug Schulkind:

This is the fourth time this has happened in seven years. That's a lotta...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am
listener james from westwood:

Does it coincide w. heavy rains? The last week had its moments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am
Doug Schulkind:

Interesting theory. I will ask the plumber.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51am
Amanda:

All of us who don't have any sewage in their living areas, let's take a moment to express gratitude for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am
Little Danny:

Jesus Doug that's terrible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am
Doug Schulkind:

This Flamingos number reminds me of the amazing tape loop running on the PA outside the bumper cars concession at Coney Island. Over and over and over it way blast: "Bump, bump, bump your ass off. Bump your ass off." I have kicked myself for years for not going down there and recording it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am
Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am
Little Danny:

Thanks for playing Harper's Bizarre, Amanda. It's always nice to swell up on some sunshine in the AM
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am
Amanda:

Aw, don't mention it LD! And I agree. Pick up that anthology if you don't have it, it's awesome. Liner notes by our own Joe McGasko.
  11:01am
sugarwolf:

@amanda: aww. Hopefully you will get an equally nice adopter!!

I will be at the station next Thursday :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am
Amanda:

YAYYYY I WILL SEE YOU
  11:08am
Pierre Francois Brioschi, designer, Paris sewers:

A camera sent down here's sewer found a pipe hole in the building's connection to the town's line under the street, very costly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am
Doug Schulkind:

@Pierre
WFMU had that same problem and had to pay something like $30,000 for the repair.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am
listener james from westwood:

That WFMU didn't turn into a 5-story cholera ziggurat during Sandy via the Pit is as big a miracle as my atheist ass will ever see.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am
northguineahills:

Never heard the original, nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am
Amanda:

The Breeders in the original! Flipping the script.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am
listener james from westwood:

I know virtually nothing of S. 19, so this is a good window for me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am
doctorjazz:

Hi all, checking in.
  11:26am
Pierre Francois Brioschi, designer, Paris sewers:

Did you have the Rezillos over? Bill Kelly tells they wrecked FMU's toilet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am
northguineahills:

I actually liked that Santa's Little Helper joke. This was one of the episodes that started to redeem the Simpson's again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Homer sees Marge and Duff Man together: "The mother of my children with the reason for my children!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am
Amanda:

Yeah, I liked that joke fine. Like so many of the post-season 13 eps, this one has really grown on me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am
listener james from westwood:

Mmmm ... Ash Ra Tempel ... ::experiences trippy "2001" graphics::
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am
Amanda:

James, I really think you should sit down, take a stress pill and continue to enjoy this show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am
listener james from westwood:

Lotsa Kubrick homage on "The Simpsons." Maybe the highest %age of any director's corpus?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am
Amanda:

Maybe! Oh! The "Clockwork Orange" parody on Treehouse of Horror I think 2 years ago? Is so worth seeking out. Soooo funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am
listener james from westwood:

Didn't that one take a wild hard right into "Eyes Wide Shut," too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am
Charlie:

Luv Rodney! Gotta go back to the archive and listen to this:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am
listener james from westwood:

OMFG, the bathroom line kills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am
Little Danny:

I feel like bits of "2001" have been referenced like dozens of times on the Simpsons
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am
listener james from westwood:

LD, you are not wrong!
Thanks muchly, Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm
Amanda:

Bye everyone -- see you at marathon!
