Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

The story begins amid a maze of hoses, soot-soaked firefighters, popping glass, and idling engines blocking traffic after a massive fire in 1983 at the newly renovated Crossroads Irish Pub on Beacon Street.
And through it all comes Richard Yates, little-known author and Crossroads regular, down Beacon Street, over the hoses, past the firefighters and about to take a left into the remains of the smoldering Boston bar before waitress Jennifer Hetzel pulls him outside and states the obvious.
"Dick, we're closed," she said.
"Why?" asked Yates.
Currently yet posthumously recognized as one of the nation's most gifted authors, Yates blended into Beacon Street's landscape like brick, looking more homeless than literary in his worn Brooks Brothers blazer, muttering aloud to no one in particular.
