Impressive drumming at H&F! Congrats on making the goal!
  3:03pm frenchee:

In case you were wondering, this faboo intro music goes perfectly with the swaying dead GIFs on WFMU's home page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm blee:

@frenchee, oh yeah, you are right!
  3:04pm Listener Robert:

No amplifier in that Wizard, hence the spec "within 15 miles of a broadcasting station" -- and that's using headphones (not included).
Avatar 3:05pm glenn:

concerts, sermons, lectures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Clïff in Prägůe:

Only $7.95!
Avatar 3:07pm glenn:

is the news real or fake?
  3:07pm Listener Robert:

Irwin's dedication today reminds me of what my friend Bill "Meridian" once said he wanted to do: stand in the middle of the Holland Tunnel in a diver's suit alongside some fish mobiles and pantomime swimming.
Avatar 3:08pm Hoboken Jack:

I wonder if anyone has ever segued from Juliana Hatfield to the McCoys.
Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Ralphine:

One of the tracks on Hatfield's upcoming album is called "Kellyanne," and another is called "Short-Fingered Man."
  3:08pm frenchee:

@listener Robert: I'm sure it's already been done, probably in the 20s. or the 90s. ;-)
  3:13pm Laura L:

Heck, I'd pay $8.95 for that dingus if only they'd send it to me at once!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Try Wizard Radio Prime.
Avatar 3:19pm Sem Chumbo:

@Laura L.: "dingus", now there's a Sam Spade-ism sorely absent from today's vocabulary.
Bring back "dingus", I say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Carmichael:

Obey that impulse -- Do it Now!
Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Ralphine:

I think Paul Newman called the hula hoop a dingus n The Hudsucker Proxy.

Not sure how I feel about that new Chuck Berry single that dropped yesterday.
Avatar 3:23pm V Priceless:

hey Irwin...love this 'Havana Moon'
Avatar 3:24pm Sem Chumbo:

And then there's this: Śmigus-Dyngus
A celebration held on Easter Monday in Poland and Ukraine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm (Murakami Whywolf))):

I always guessed that "Havana Moon" was Berry's attempt to get his own "Louie, Louie".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Planet Tyler:

That "Berryland" tombstone can serve it's real purpose now :(
Avatar 3:26pm Wild Neil:

PEACE all. In Buffalo Dyngus day is a real thing. They have a big drunken parade. In Poland guys get water pistols and girls get pussy willows to hit guys with. For reals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Planet Tyler:

(As seen in "Hail, Hail RnR" if you havent had the pleasure)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Planet Tyler:

@WN - I sure do miss livin in ole Buffalo. Great art scene - and Dynguseseses
Avatar 3:31pm Listening Out There:

What a tuning on Haynes' tom toms. They sound like timpani...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Ike:

Was talking TV shows the other day & forgot to recommend numerous things, like the British crime show Happy Valley, on Netflix, and the caustic romantic comedy You're the Worst, on FX or FXX.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Irwin:

Check the video for Chicken Attack. We have a savior.
Avatar 3:35pm glenn:

happy valley is fabulous. although not very happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Irwin:

Just finished FX's TABOO. Wonderful and grisly.
  3:38pm Listener Robert:

I recommend "Lost" if you're a fan of mysteries well versed in the genre, and accept that it really is a mystery that very strongly misleads the audience while giving clues, and withholds the solution, pretending it wasn't even a mystery.
Avatar 3:38pm Sem Chumbo:

@glenn, not, I guess, the Happy Valley of " and Goose Bay."
The *not very happy* makes me wonder if it is, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Ike:

Also if you like animation, Samurai Jack is back. That's a 10(-ish)-year-old classic, just now revived so it can be concluded. And I respectfully disagree on Lost, as it doesn't end up going anywhere and clearly wasn't planned out properly in advance. Some good characters, though.
  3:39pm Listener Robert:

Plus, a lot of the ostensible exposition on "Lost" is unreliable.
Avatar 3:40pm Listening Out There:

Ike...First couple seasons had esp. great art. Guess there was a Samurai Jack marathon a cable recently...
Avatar 3:42pm glenn:

no, not happy valley goose bay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Itzall Ablurr:

Gotta' agree with Ike about "LOST", I binge-watched the first couple of seasons, well written, good characters, plot (such as it was), etc.. but. At the end it was limping along and pretty much a disappointment. Now, "RIVERDALE"- that's a fun watch! Sexy stuff for "Archie" and the gang.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Ike:

@LOT, this past Saturday's new episode of Samurai Jack probably topped all others artistically. Gorgeous, sad, a real stunner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Uncle Michael:

Good afternoon, Irwinians.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Irwin:

Hello, Unca Mike. Thanks for joining us here last week.
Avatar 3:49pm Roberto:

It was nice to finally get a visual on the Uncle during the finale. Dude's got style!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Uncle Michael:

It was great to see you, Irwin...and everyone else, as well.

Thanks, Roberto.
Avatar 3:55pm Bertolt Brecht:

Oy vey.
  3:55pm Listener Robert:

Ike, the only reason you think "Lost" wasn't planned out, and that it didn't go anywhere, was that you, like everyone else in the audience except me AFAIK, failed to solve it. You probably didn't get that the ending was not supposed to be a revelation, but just one more set of clues.
  3:57pm Listener Robert:

Of course I had an enormous advantage in having been a friend of the show's creator for years before, knowing his predilections, and even introducing him to some things that turned up in "Lost". It's like he made it for me.
Avatar 3:58pm Roberto:

What would happen if Thundercat and Tacocat got together and made kittens?
  3:58pm Listener Robert:

But even with those advantages, for a couple years after "Lost" ended its run, I thought we'd been had. Then I picked up some more clues from Arthur Conan Doyle, and pieces of the puzzle started falling into place again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm KevinfromBayRidge:

No offense UM but I consider myself a Chusidian.
  3:59pm Listener Robert:

Isn't Chusidian a semi-precious stone, or a geologic era, or something like that?
  3:59pm Tom:

Thundercat is straight up Rundgren!
Avatar 4:01pm Wild Neil:

I was dissapointed by Lost. I thought it was a big swindle actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm KevinfromBayRidge:

@ LRobert, probably...in a "Lost" world.
  4:02pm Listener Robert:

For a "running" analysis by me of "Lost", users.bestweb.net... . I should update it soon with its cx to "North by Northwest" and "Ozma of Oz".
  4:03pm Listener Robert:

It does have a little cx with Doyle's "The Lost World", but it's much closer to, and named after, his "The Lost Special".
Avatar 4:05pm βrian:

Why, he mispronounced "Terpsichore."
  4:05pm Listener Robert:

In fact if you're familiar with "The Lost Special", "One of Our Aircraft Is Empty" ("Department S" episode), and "Hamlet", you have most of "Lost" right there.
Avatar 4:11pm glenn:

this reminds me of cheri and her mila kunis fixation.

  4:15pm Listener Robert:

Whew! For a sec there I thought glenn was saying Irwin sucks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Passaic River Blues:

This episode is fascinating in its own way. For instance, who greenlit that "nice" kiddie track?
Avatar 4:17pm dale:

that kid that sang 'my name is michael, i got a nickel' - i wanted to trip him and take that nickel.
Avatar 4:18pm glenn:

today, in topical jokes - what do you call an unarmed Sarah Palin, bicycling through bear country?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Passaic River Blues:

@dale: hahahaha

Avatar 4:20pm dale:

HAH! good joke
Avatar 4:20pm dale:

Avatar 4:21pm Listening Out There:

Tom Wilson didn't get a chance to be one of the geezers they disparage...
  4:23pm frenchee:

@listening o.t.: I was thinking the same thing. Pity. "Far out."
Avatar 4:31pm TDK60:

John Sebastian on harp on this Hardin right? This 1st Hardin LP is something.

Avatar 4:36pm dale:

someday video tape cartridges will be dumped on the salvation army to make room for dvds. which will be dumped for netflix.

Avatar 4:46pm dale:

THAT is exactly why i cringed whenever someone wanted to go see a play.
  4:51pm Hoboken Jack:

That's a cool fact about gold records not being made from the actual records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Cal Zone!:

Imagine if they still had that Beatles Gold Record award....would be worth a small fortune. I wonder if the 'Batman' Gold record Wilson refers to is the The Sensational Guitars of Dan and Dale' Sun Ra LP?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hey! Who dat heavy Bloooz band ?!? ...Yerknow Sebastian did the harp on 'Roadhouse Blues'...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...so - Odetta, Nina Simone & Maya Angelou walk into a bar...
Avatar 5:04pm glenn:

welp, there's another childhood illusion shattered.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Rich in Washington:

I know! Me too! I always assumed they pressed the actual record it's awarded for and had it plated, painted gold.
The world's upside down.
Avatar 5:06pm TDK60:

Met Odetta once at a folk fest. Her set was hypnotic.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm drr:

Thanks for that Lovin' Spoonful interview! I just recently realized how much more there is to the LS than Summer In The City, mostly cause "Everything Playing" is so good. It was cool to hear them talk about it when it was new.
