My science experiment today: Ate onions earlier this evening. Confirm that I still taste onions hours later.
  10:10pm
grace gold way:

I'm wondering if anyone has a strong argument in favor of the March for Science.
I'm all for science and activism, but the Facebook group looks more like a "who's sign is the punniest" contest. I've seen very little discussion btwn members on what exactly the government is doing to restrict scientific research, and what action an individual can take. (Edit: Not to say this issue isn't real/ important, it definitely is, but the message seemed to be not well articulated).
Also, how much disruption could a protest cause on a Saturday?
  10:12pm
Carmichael:

Scientists should be scientists. No need to argue about facts. Don't let stupid people have a forum.
Avatar 10:16pm
geezerette:

Marches may be ineffective in an immediate sense but it seems important to demonstrate refusal to acquiesce.
  10:18pm
Carmichael:

I know, geez. But it seems to cheapen the argument. Scientists should stay above the political fray, in my opinion.
