Ken From Hyde Park:

Fill-ins filling the night sky tonight. Yay!

Thought of you today, KG, when I scanned new stuff on Naxos Music Library and found a curious W&W record of Ernst Reijseger, "Cave of Forgotten Dreams."
Katherine in Seattle:

I was just telling my daughter how big Queen was when I was a kid. My gym class would sit on the floor and stomp and clap out We Will Rock You, and our PE teacher would actually tolerate this

Clawhammer's "Caravan," never mind their Devo cover album...
Katherine in Seattle:

The radio station I listened to would play We are the Champions and immediately follow it with We Will Rock You (the B side)

Speaking of Supraphon, do you know Kabeláč's "The Mystery of Time"?
Avatar 12:20am
Kurt Gottschalk:

kathy, didn't they cross fade like that on the album?
dean, no i don't.

Supraphon conductor from 1967, however, was Karel Ančerl.

Kurt Gottschalk:

i'll have to get back to that.

Kurt! What a great version of Women of the World. Looking forward to all the other surprises.

Avatar 12:32am

love Carl Stone.

Omg this sunshine

Hey! Had to check in to see if this was Carl Stone. Loving the covers!

And speaking of Mr. Stone. Does anybody remember if he hosted a radio program in Los Angeles maybe in mid '80s? Or am I just making up shit in my head?

For sure, he hosted a program at KPFK in Los Angeles. I listened pretty regularly.
V Priceless:

great in headphones, this
Katherine in Seattle:

Say happy birthday to Kurt.

Thanks Dean. I feel like I also listened regularly but it was sooooo long ago. Glad I'm not going crazy too. Whew.

Avatar 12:40am
Kurt Gottschalk:

aw, shush. my birthday was ages ago. (punctuation smiley face)

This is reminding me of Charles Dodge's "Any Resemblance Is Purely Coincidental."

This is great driving music
Katherine in Seattle:

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear Kurt (Bear)
Happy birthday to you!!

Kurt Gottschalk:

Hi Kimz!
OK, Kathy.
Katherine in Seattle:

I just looked up the track listing - I didn't realize We Will Rock You - We are the Champions were in a row on the album. I just had the 45. It all makes sense now. I remembered it in reverse, though. I bought it for We are the Champions.
Avatar 1:01am

Happy un-birthday, March Hare style then. (punctuation sideways Cheshire cat)

Wow. I think My Generation is now my favorite Patti Smith song.
Katherine in Seattle:

They say it's your birthday
it's my birthday too, yeah
They say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you

I loved this video when I was a kid. I didn't know who the Beatles where. And we just moved from a dirt road to the city and got cable. The rest was down hill.

So close to awesomeness, but missing the chord change on "...wish..." took this into eyerolling at the pretentious Germans territory for me. (Und ich darf das sagen, weil...)
