I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Good afternoon Mayuko and listeners. There's a promisingt show tonight, but no way I'm going a full month without catching this show live
Avatar 12:02pm
Mayuko:

Good afternoon, fred, thanks for tuning in! So glad to be back on the radio that I'm planning to do a 3 hours today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
fred:

Yeah for 3 hours!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
listener james from westwood:

Afternoon, Mayuko, fred, and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
listener james from westwood:

Yay 3 hours! I'm dodging a massive pollen siege and unearthly humidity by staying in and proofreading, so this is literally music to my ears.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm
fred:

Is that Juana Molina?
Avatar 12:05pm
Mayuko:

Yup, Juana Molina brand new album!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm
fred:

Looks like I'm not very patient today. I'll calm down
Avatar 12:05pm
Mayuko:

Welcome on board, james! Glad to have you here.
  12:08pm
Rickwaukee:

that's some severe upspeak!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
fred:

I'd like to see Juana Molina again. When I saw her Nisennenmondai were next, so I was not focused on her show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Doug Schulkind:

Hi, Mayuko! Hi, playverts!
Avatar 12:11pm
Mayuko:

Rickwaukee, you mean the "mooooooooooooon"? I suppose when there's too exciting things such as sending human to the moon, one falls unspeakable. That happens to me anyway.
Avatar 12:13pm
Mayuko:

Doug! Glad you here! I forgot to make sure that I can announce all the exciting news of GTDR already, right? Which is too exciting I might experience severe unspeak.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
fred:

Hi Doug! Or is there a proper title that I should use now? Where I work they're pretty big on that
  12:15pm
Rickwaukee:

Radiooooooooo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
fred:

This is quite a funny track
Avatar 12:21pm
Mayuko:

@fred I thought so too! Started as if it's serious smartypantsy music, then turns out to be very funny and quirky. & dreamy too. I like it a lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Mayuko and drum-drums. I'm going out back to pick dandelions. Bringing the show with me on a Bluetooth speaker. I hope the neighbors enjoy the show. I'm not going to blast it, just normal volume.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
paul b:

This Moebious, Plank, Mayo Thompson piece is the first time I've heard Karl Popper referenced in song
Avatar 12:34pm
Mayuko:

@Ken Picking dandelions! What a wonderful way of spending your weekend! I love that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
fred:

@paul b: I was a little disappointed when I saw M.A. Numminen do his Wittgenstein piece. I think the station's Kenny G did a much better job, though PI is easier material
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Doug Schulkind:

@fred
My official title is Chief Janitor.
Avatar 12:41pm
Mayuko:

Welcome on board, paul b! I wish I understand all the lyrics - couldn't follow everything he was saying (although I wouldn't have really understood the Karl Popper reference anyway......)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
fred:

That Hot Troche track reminds me of when I was listening to Jason Forrest's AD&D show. Good times
  12:59pm
Rickwaukee:

Bestiality DOES NOT mean being the best at something.
  1:05pm
Rickwaukee:

German word: wanderlust
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm
fred:

There are a few places I saw in dreams that I've been looking for ever since
Avatar 1:12pm
Mayuko:

I could kind of guess that "Bestiality" is not about something lovely, Rickwaukee, just by looking at the artwork of the comp.
Avatar 1:15pm
Mayuko:

fred, is it because those places were beautiful?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm
fred:

Étant Donnés seem to have been so great back then. Thanks for giving me an idea of what they were at their best
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
fred:

Not beautiful, but so specific that I think they must be out there somewhere. If they exist and I saw these before that would explain it, and destroy these images
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
fred:

Hearing Les Ralizes Denudes reminds me it's been far too long since I last saw Keiji Haino
Avatar 1:26pm
Mayuko:

I'm sure MANY people experience that feeling! I wonder if anyone ever actually saw it in real. You might have composed that scene in your dream from something you had seen in the past and stored in your brain. Then there IS a chance you'll get to really see it.
Avatar 1:28pm
Mayuko:

I love that this track is waltz. Must be nice to waltz dance along Neubauten.
Avatar 1:29pm
Mayuko:

Should take place in an abandoned ballroom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm
fred:

A couple of years ago, we got an email at work saying that FM would head efforts to refurbish the concert hall after asbestos cleanup. I immediately started the rumor that this meant FM EinHeit, though I knew these were the initials of the intitute's director. At least I got a few laughs out of that prank
  1:36pm
rbrt:

this show is great! should be on the main channel imho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
fred:

@rbrt: This is the main channel. Proof is that both Mayuko and you are there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
fred:

That Bardo Thödol was really nice, and I'm not a fan of 80's music
Avatar 1:44pm
Mayuko:

Hello rbrt! Thank you for tuning in and your kind words!!
  1:44pm
Rickwaukee:

this can not be 40 years old next year - CAN NOT
  1:46pm
Rickwaukee:

imagine a song from 1938 in 1978
Avatar 1:46pm
Mayuko:

fred, I do not know how you've survived all my shows when you're not a fan of 80's music! haha!
Avatar 1:47pm
Mayuko:

That is CRAZY, Rickwaukee!!!!!
Avatar 1:49pm
Mayuko:

Talking Heads never gets old. Then again, *I'm* getting old, so what do I know. I wonder if young people find it sounding old.
  1:51pm
Rickwaukee:

Right? I can't imagine it sounds as old as Bing Crosby sounded to 70's kids.
  1:52pm
Rickwaukee:

but what if it does? YIKES!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm
fred:

Mayuko, I was a teenager in the 80's, so I endured the crap that hasn't made it to your ears. To give you an idea of how bad it was, I was a New Order evangelist in high school, and that was pretty radical
  2:06pm
rbrt:

haha the wwf...totally
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
fred:

@Mayuko: If you were the head of a reclusive state built around what you say is good, I'd move thare
  2:10pm
Rickwaukee:

YAY - Hour THREEEEEEE
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
fred:

I want to see Mary Lattimore live
  2:19pm
rbrt:

i imagine this would sound incredible
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
listener james from westwood:

Seconding the live point, maybe as a double bill w/ Julianna Barwick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
fred:

There's a Annette Peacock show soon, but it's very expensive. Is it worth forking over $30+?
Avatar 2:37pm
Mayuko:

When I was in Japan it often used to be the case to see a band touring from oversea you need to pay like $50 - $70 or more and I just thought that's what it was. Now I find it ridiculously expensive!! $30 would be my limit now... (with exceptions.)
Avatar 2:39pm
Mayuko:

By the way this foodman track is very long and it's another reason why I'm doing 3 hours show. So this is going to be my last track today!
Avatar 2:42pm
Scraps:

h'lo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm
fred:

@Mayuko: Maybe you should have a long track like this one every week, and do a 3-hour show regularly
  2:43pm
Rickwaukee:

Ah, that explains the song title - it took up a large portion of that day.
Avatar 2:43pm
Mayuko:

Scraps! Welcome, my radio family!
Avatar 2:45pm
Mayuko:

@fred haha, that feels like cheating to play a 30min track every week! but yeah, 3 hours definitely gives you the freedom to play ANY track you like without worrying the length.
Avatar 2:48pm
Scraps:

Thank you my radio family also.
Having sick. Bleah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
fred:

@Mayuko: you know any pretense is good enough for me to try to get you to do a three hour show
Avatar 2:52pm
Mayuko:

Oh NO! being sick is the last thing you want for a beautiful weekend like this (if you're in NYC area anyway)! I hope you get well soon, Scraps! Sorry that music is not exactly soothing, haha.
Avatar 2:54pm
Mayuko:

I'll do 3 hours again here and there, since Saturday is still all MINE!
Avatar 2:56pm
Scraps:

Music is always soothing, for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm
fred:

@Scraps: No! Is it anything serious? I can't get worried because there's nothing I can do about it. I think. Please tell me if I'm wrong
Avatar 2:58pm
Scraps:

(used to live in new york. now live in seattle, where i grew up.)
Avatar 2:58pm
Scraps:

not serious, fred. just unpleasant
Avatar 2:59pm
Scraps:

thank you
Avatar 2:59pm
Mayuko:

How are YOU feeling since the operation, fred? Is everything ok?
  3:01pm
rbrt:

Wow...good news with Meghan and Cheyenne! Best of luck to both.
Avatar 3:03pm
Scraps:

Yay very good
Avatar 3:03pm
Mayuko:

Yes this foodman's live set is awesome except it's causing me going over 3pm! (which is my fault)
  3:06pm
Rickwaukee:

Foodman is getting low blood sugar
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm
fred:

@Mayuko: Your show has really helped me. It would be hard to say how, but it did. All is not OK, but your show makes it bearable
  3:09pm
Rickwaukee:

Thanks, Big M!
  3:09pm
rbrt:

great show !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm

Thanks, Mayuko, and have a good time away from the confines of Studio C next week!
